In section 17-2, for cars of the period 2001 - 2005 you state that checking the oil level using the on-board computer requires the engine to be at idle and at normal operating temperature.

Suggestion
Checking the oil level for these cars while the engine is running would cause the owner to add too much oil and possibly cause damage.

This one, anyone buy it yet? I'm curious to what the electric schematics look like, and if they include 996s with rain sensing wipers? I need it to do some troubleshooting and the Porsche Factory schematics are useless.
Its well worth the money and great information for @$100.00. By using the Bentley manual, the info you get from members here and at Renntech, you can do just about anything on a 996. Your only limitation is your access to a good work area, tools, and your ability. There is even more help and info if you become a paying member at both sites.
By using the info above, I am confident in doing any needed service or repair to my 996.

I would only be buying it for the electrical schematics, if they are more useful than the factory ones. Did you get the manual? If so, can you see if rain-sensing wipers are covered?
I also recommend the manual. They offer additional video and bulletins on their web site so I feel this is a book that will be interactive and updated... just like Rennlist. The two are a great combination. Do shop around - Amazon is much less expensive and Free shipping.

This is incorrect for all but the Turbo cars.

All other 996 cars for this period must have the engine turned off for at least 3 minutes before checking the oil level.
Checking the oil level for these cars while the engine is running would cause the owner to add too much oil and possibly cause damage.
