Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am in the process of rebuilding both of my forward axle shafts in my 2001 Carrera C4. I ordered the Beck/Arnley 1032250 outer cv boots. The problem I am having is the outer boots I ordered are larger than the ones I removed. So I ordered from a different manufacturer: Raybestos 816-1251, they ended up being the same size as the Beck/Arnley parts. Neither part is correct, but everywhere I look they are supposed to be compatible. I need to find out where to get the correct parts before I spend any more money.
old boot deminsions: 2 17/16" inner diameter cv joint side, 13/16" inner diameter axle side and 2 7/8" tall.
My axle shaft part number is 996.349.038.10 and the outer cv joint has a part number 993 349 607 00 made by GKN. Is that 993 part number supposed to be on the car? Or did the previous owner change out some parts?
Having the same car and model year as you.. My mechanic recently changed the boots and according to my invoice he used 999.113.454.41 axle seal.
Hope this helps
Thanks, but that part number is for the shaft seal on the differential housing. I need the front CV axle outboard boot. The part number I have not ordered yet is, 996-349-291-00-M127. I just wanted to see if anyone has the measurements of it before I order it and waste more money on shipping and parts if they are not correct either.
Just call you local dealer and tell them what you're looking for. They'll pull your car up by VIN and make sure you get the right (and possibly updated) part. I did this job a couple of years ago and had no issue with the parts I got from Sunset.
I priced out the CV boot kits from sunset a while ago and was surprised to find out that they were over $60 per kit, adding up to nearly $500 to replace them all. IIRC, the part number was a 928 one and standard across many lines. I would bet that there is a considerably cheaper alternative out there. Keep us posted if you find anything.
Cheers,
