Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Again I have cleaned the area with brake cleaner with the intention of keeping an eye on this area and the one I mentioned above.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Posted: Sat Dec 01, 2012 8:05 pm Post subject: Help id parts that might be leaking oil It's that time of the year again (summer down here), so I decided to take rear wheels off and poked around under the car. Obviously I found a mist of oil covering on a couple of places, and I thought I'd post the pictures here to get some ideas of might be going on. There is no oil on the ground. The car is a 2003 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet. First picture, I found a couple the area circled in red covered with fine film of oil. Before taking the picture I sprayed brake cleaner on that area hence the rather messy look. This area will be on the right side of the car looking from the rear. Second picture, there were a couple of drops of oil at the tip of the arrow. Again I have cleaned the area with brake cleaner with the intention of keeping an eye on this area and the one I mentioned above. This is just off the oil filter which was captured in the picture.

Thing's totally hosed. Time to trade it in for a GT3 :-)
