Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I got a lot of films and great leadership on oil and filter changing and front end removal for cleaning between the two rads and condensors.

I wanted to add further info to other posters who may be changing brake pads incase they struggled as I did.

I have seen a video on how to replace the water pump for example, and it shows the guy jacking up the engine, things like that, is where i dont want to mess up.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys, i recently bought into my 1999 996 c2 cab this summer and im looking to do alot of my own work on the car.
Ive already completed a full brake replacement and i plan on doing the oil and filter, air filter etc....
I wanna eventually tackle the water pump, suspension bushings and install the fabspeed muffler bypass system.
Im wondering if there are any members in the GTA close to Milton, Ontario that are looking to share their knowledge, possibly supervise and guide me through the replacement steps of the more difficult projects mentioned above?
This will allow me to work on the car, while having confidence that i didnt skip a step, possibly leaving my pride and joy in ultimate ruin.
I enjoy the learning curve and consider this vehicle a hobby for the most part.
Of course i will compensate for time spent.
let me know
cheers!
p.s. im hoping to start some of this work after xmas, probably closer to February thru till spring.
You might want to check out Youtube for a 99 porsche 996 cab as I did. I got a lot of films and great leadership on oil and filter changing and front end removal for cleaning between the two rads and condensors. Serpentine belt plus water pump. Theres lots of great films on you tube. Front and rear brakes. I would always check there before attempting any job on your car. You sound like a guy after my own heart with the same car model and year. Have fun I know I did. BTW when you do the brakes, you cannot remove the pads without first removing the cali[pers. No matter what anyone says. I know. Oh and dont scrap the anti squeel thmnigys. They slide right back in there after removing them from the old pads. And dont be tempted to throw away the brake wear indicators. Put new ones in if needed. I know the track guys throw them away along with the anti squeel thnigs.on the old pads. Thats so they can change them more often, like after a couple of track days. Good luck... Mike
Thats true Avio. I wanted to add further info to other posters who may be changing brake pads incase they struggled as I did. Just in case his brakes start to squeel or he had lots of trouble trying to remove the pads with the crown thingy in place. The calipers have to be removed. It took me ages to find that part of the fix out. The old thingy's can be replaced without glueing as they are still tacky and seal themselves after the first braking action on the new pads. Thanks.
hurdi, thanks for the feedback, i did manage to change the brakes and i used the youtube video to get instructions.
basically i think i did ok, as the brakes work fine and it took me about 5 and a half hrs to complete.
while i had the car jacked up , i noticed the bushings, being 13 yrs old, were a little worn out(dried and cracked), so i started wondering what else may be ready to go.
The car runs fine and im hoping it will for a long time.
But when the time comes that a part which is more difficult to replace goes, such a s the water pump, i dont feel confident enough to complete the job without possibly screwing something up. I have seen a video on how to replace the water pump for example, and it shows the guy jacking up the engine, things like that, is where i dont want to mess up.
I can always take it to a shop to complete the tuff stuff, but still, id like to work on the car as part of an experience.
So if anyone wants to wrench or help out, im interested.
