Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The German who tightened these at the factory must have been on the roid using Olympic power lifting team.
Leading evidence: 'Tighten these at the factory must have been' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check plug and drain plug were extremely tight' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I carefully used the double combination wrench trick to get the plugs out without damaging them.

I've found even drain/fill plugs/bolts higher up on other cars can suffer from the same issues, the fill plug on my FWD DD was on the top of the transmission housing, yet I could not budge it loose with a 3/8 drive extension and rachet handle, I hit it with a high power cordless electric impact wrench and that didn't work either, I finally used two sections of 1/2" extension before I was able to crack loose the fill plug.

It's more likely that oxidation has set in a little bit after these many years, espeically if the car had lived in areas that used salt on the roads during winter times, the location of the front diff is low enough that splashs from the road surface will easily get on the plugs/bolts.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I changed the trans oil and front dif oil yesterday and thought I would warn others that have not done the front dif yet. I know Porsche claims the front dif oil is good for 100,000 miles. Mine only has 55,000 but is a 2003. I decided to change it since I was under the car anyway for trans oil change.
The front dif check plug and drain plug were extremely tight. I carefully used the double combination wrench trick to get the plugs out without damaging them. The German who tightened these at the factory must have been on the roid using Olympic power lifting team.
Anyway, Im glad I changed it because the oil was obviously old and now it has nice new synthetic dif oil. Trans and dif are nice and quite. Shifts smooth too.
About 3 quarts for trans and about 1.5 for front dif. No heat but was very careful not to round off check and drain plugs. It was obvious these had never been removed. Remember to take the check plug out first. You have to refill front dif a little slowly to allow it to fill to capacity. Dont mix up the plugs because the dif drain plug has a magnet in it. NO METAL on mine, relief. Fluid just looked old to me. Glad I changed it for peace of mind. This car is actually kind of fun to work on compared to some prior projects.

I would have used my pneumatic impact wrench on this plug if not for the lack of space to jam the impact wrench close enough to this fill plug!
