The battery was indicating fully charged, the red security light on the dash is flashing, the key fob led is bright and strong (I'll replace batts anyway) I used the spare, same result.

I replaced the door mechanism due to the window lowering issue so looks like I inadvertently disconnected the manual locking mechanism?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Guys, I have been traveling for 5 weeks, I left my 99C4 on a c-tek tender for the duration. I got back today and both the remote and the key blade won't unlock the car!
I have done some searching and understand that the transponder in the key can switch off and to fix you simply start the car with the key, however I can't get into mine as my manual lock does not seem to work. I replaced the door mechanism due to the window lowering issue so looks like I inadvertently disconnected the manual locking mechanism? The battery was indicating fully charged, the red security light on the dash is flashing, the key fob led is bright and strong (I'll replace batts anyway) I used the spare, same result.
Anyway anyone got any ideas how to get in the car? I'm thinking getting a glass guy in to remove the quarter glass?
Cheers
Rob
passanger side does not open with the remote? when i use the remote to open the car, both doors unlock. both doors also unlock when i open the trund using the remote.
Try putting your key in the door and turn it all the way to the left and hold it there for about 5 seconds. This should make the windows automatically go down if working properly. Worth a try.
The key is awake, the car is sleeping
You could try opening the frunk or engine lid with one of the emergency cables. That might wake it up & set off the alarm. That should give your remote a chance to address the security system.
Forgot to mention, I had road side assistance come out who could get a rod into the car past the driver (RH) window, push the unlock button - no good, door handles - no good, Frunk lever- no good, security well and truly on.
Do these cars have motion detectors? Shake the Siht out of it. Maybe that will wake it up and setoff the alarm.
Rod wasn't long enough to reach the passengers door latch and hook it open?
Hmmm, might disconnectining and reconnecting the battery wake the computer up? Of course you might have to reteach the cars ignition what redline means
To get inside the luggage compartment, you will need to find the pull wire inside the wheel well. Things MAY awaken if the battery is disconnected and reconnected. After reconnecting the battery, you will have to pump in the radio code for that to work again.
Funny, my Indy, who is a very good bloke just called as I was responding to this thread, this is what he is hoping will be the solution. Thanks for your idea. He's coming over early Sat. morn, I'll update in case some other lucky Rob gets into this situation.
Cheers

The rear emergency cable is probably easier to get to. It is between the left taillight and the bumper. On mine I can get to it by gently wedging a rubber kiitchen spatula in between the light and bumper then using a thin wire hook grab the loop and pull it out so you can grip it and open the trunk.
Right side, front. sometimes can be seen and reached with a coat hanger through the marker light hole. The light is held in with a spring it just snaps out.
Fixed! Popped the drunk, alarm went off, remotes no good. Disconnected battery for a min, reconnected, remotes good! I'm in!
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Off to get the manual lock fixed.
Cheers
