Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'sender unit' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'sender unit' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install when i swap' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

But again, thanks to this forum I have a brand new sender waiting to be installed when I swap on the winter tires.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Out today and I hear a small "beep". Look down and the oil pressure warning icon is displayed. Looked at the gauge was pegged at zero. Downshifted to get to the side of the road and "pop"...all the way back to five.
2003 996 with 25,000 miles, just had the oil changed at dealer less than 100 miles ago. Took the filter home to slice open and all is well there.
Did something get temporarily stuck in the line or sending unit base? Advice please!
LOL - same exact thing happened to me last week and I nearly crashed the car trying to get off the road to shut it down. Oil pressure sender unit definitely - could be just a poor connection. It is located behind the oil filter - maybe loose, maybe dirty, maybe needs to be replaced.
That warning is possibly the scariest one yet.
BTW - what is "druck pressure"?
Thanks to all for the help...Travelling this weekend, but will attend to it next week.
I had an older 88 Targa and the oil pressure gauge said Druck Press.
Just a technical term for a very precise measure of "pressure"...
Oil pressure sender lives top right side of the engine. Come up from the bottom with a 19mm crows foot on a ball end extension or universal to get the angle.
Had this exact same thing happen to me the DAY AFTER I bought the car. Talk about a heart stopper. But again, thanks to this forum I have a brand new sender waiting to be installed when I swap on the winter tires.
