Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey Is there any diference between a manual and auto crank shaft? Can i use a crank from a manual 996 3.4 with a auto tranny? thanks

POST 2Original post

No difference in the engine at all EXCEPT for the pipe near the waterpump that diverts coolant back to the AT. Mike

POST 3Original post

1998- 2004 3.4 & 3.2 crankshafts are all the same regardless of transmission

POST 5Original post

To be 100% sure, check the part numbers. If they are same, so are the parts.

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 9949402

Any number on the crank may be a casting number not the part #, like the heads which have a casting number before final machining to determine what the final part# will be.

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 9949717

Ok but I wasn't talking about the number on the part. The catalog part number. The parts department at the dealer can check it for free. As much as I trust people, if I can double check something, I do it.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yes, but the dealer wont check anything w/o the vin#. and i don't have it for the other car

POST 9Original post

I just bought am oil filler tube at the dealer and they didn't ask for the vin. Just call, worst thing they will say is no.
