I used a box with JL Audio 6" subs that fire downward (you'd be surprised how it sounds).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I took my door card off today as I was hoping to be able to grease my regulator wire and gears. However I got sidetracked, like you do. Regular readers will be aware that I have done a load to my sound system, including getting 6 speakers fitted by Jon Mitchell in Christchurch. When I took the speaker out, this is what I found. It isn't like the other 4 Alpine speakers that they fitted. That is as expected, as I had 4 smaller ones in the dash and rear, and larger in the doors. Also, I didn't expect to see this speaker enclosure box, like a sub woofer box. Has anyone seen this speaker before? Is it a Porsche one? Alpine? A N Other? Also, does this mean I can fit 2 subwoofers in my doors? In fact is this speaker a sub woofer?

POST 2Original post

it appears to be a mid range that needs to be in an air-tight enclosuer as to not slap the voice coil.

POST 3Original post

That is the OEM speaker and box that comes in the HI-FI system (I'm looking at my old ones now). It's not really a sub, kinda like a "mid" sub. If you cut any extra holes in your doors for subs (not a good choice. but,) you can put a good midrange in it's place and run a sub box behind the seat. I used a box with JL Audio 6" subs that fire downward (you'd be surprised how it sounds).

POST 4Original post

I put my two 6" subs in same spot firing up and now I wish I faced them down as the glass must absorb some of the bump.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That 70w sticker is throwing me. That more of a sub-woofer wattage isn't it?
