Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had that problem twice over the last year: first time it was the brake switch.
Leading evidence: 'brake switch' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). I had my seat belt receptacles and attending harness replaced and it cleared the problem.

I am being told by mechanic to replace Air Mass and O2's, doesn't make sense to me.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello All,
I just purchased a 2002 996 Targa Tiptronic with 36k and have had a couple of instances where the ABS and PSM warning lights come on. On several occasions restarting the car has made the warnings quit. Last night they wouldn't go out. But when I started the car 3 hours later no error?
Oh here is a picture:
Any ideas would be apperciated.

Welcome - Just in time... there is a big Porsche GTG this Sat in Redmond.... lots of great locals for a great time!!!
Beautiful car!!
The light is (if like the early cars) a fairly common problem and ofen time associated with the seat belt receptical. I would recommend a code reading to see what errors (if any) have been thrown. If you want/need a shop recommendation let me know.
Again welcome!!
I had my seat belt receptacles and attending harness replaced and it cleared the problem. A search in this forum lead me to the conclusion that was the proper path to take.
I had that problem twice over the last year: first time it was the brake switch. The second time it was the defective brand new brake switch! Only difference was that the first time the light(s) were solid on, second time it was random like you mention.

Thanks but I posted 3 days after joining when I had a problem...
Special shout out to those who gave ideas on finding the problem. The dealer who sold the car ordered a brake switch to fix the problem for me. I hope to get it back tomorrow for the weekend.
I am having similar problem with warning lights, but my lights come on after sitting in heavy stop and go traffic for prolonged periods. I am being told by mechanic to replace Air Mass and O2's, doesn't make sense to me. Can you please explain seat belt receptable fix?
