Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So, what do you guys think? How would the sound compare doing the cat by-pass vs. the FisterD muffler mod? My question is because would you do the cat by-pass and save some weight off the back and gain a little hp vs. just sound on the muffler mod.

POST 2Original post

I have the Fabspeed cat bypass x pipe and didn't notice much difference with sound. It does sound deeper but not much louder. Very little difference in sound. However, I have a Fabspeed intake which was i installed prior to the x pipe and that has made the biggest sound difference. Sounds great with the intake. Also be prepared to smell gas going catless.

POST 3Original post

From everything I have been researching, seems the bypass is cup car loud... essentially unmuffled except what the cats do. Most people buy em and sell them soon after as simply too loud for the street. Fister D or equivelent poor mans PSE seems to be the more modest way to go with decent upgrade in sound... of course no weight savings off the *** end. Go to youtube and you can hear in the videos how loud they seem vs stock. But for $150ish to try the bypass why n ot give it a whirl and make up your own mind... that way you'll have the mufflers already out and should be simple to send off to FisterD to get the mod done... this may be the way I go.

POST 4Original post

Viper6, are you confusing the Cat bypass with the muffler bypass, muffler bypass is the $150 mod and is very loud, the cat bypass can retain the mufflers so you get some silencing and is in the $7-800 region I have the poor man’s PSE mod, and a schnell intake (which sound no better that the shaving cap mod). sounds good but no performance or weight saving. I’d like to go the next step and go for a cat bypass, as long as it isn’t too loud, I like the sporty sound but don’t want to drive around is a cup spec sounding car. With the bypass you save some weight, is there a decent jump in BHP?, and do you need a re-tune to optimize it?, my car is a X51 spec, so interested in what the next tuning stage would be

POST 5Original post

Depends on how much sound you can personally take. I have the exhaust bypass...been on over a year and I love it.

POST 6Original post

I love my Fister D's. IMO the best bang for the buck mod for these cars.
