Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In my Boxster's case the bushing just snaps into the hole though there is a nub on the bushing that ensures the bushing get installed just so.

Not sure what type of radar detector it was now but I found it inside the front apron when I ahd the front of the car off cleaning the crap from between the radiators and the condensors.
Leading evidence: 'Install just so' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean crap' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Twice over the last 10 years or so in my Boxster for some unexplained reason this bushing has come loose and thankfully I spotted it in the fill basin before it fell out to the ground and was lost.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried going back to 1963 but it didn't work so I slung it haha.
These are the loose wires which I found tucked down inside the battery compartment. They all disappear from there into the back of the dash board. I do not have a clue as to what they are for if they are connected on the other ends. This car did have a wired in radar detector at one time which is not in the car now. No mention of them on the PPI from the DEALER/STEALER..
It would be interesting to see what you guys think they were or are for. Would any of you like to hazard a guess?. Hell I might learn something. Thanks
My guesses:
#1 looks like Coax and could be from an old hard wired cell phone antenna.
#2 No idea on that one - maybe some connection for CD changer or Disk player for Navigation?
#3 looks also like smaller coax with maybe an RG6 type connection which could be from a satellite radio antenna.
I guess I should try to trace them back and rip them out if not needed. Everything seems to be working ok on the car apart from the inside lights (but I can turn them on manually) and no lock on the gas door. oh and no curtousy lights working on the bottom of the doors as they are opened.
But I am certainly having a lot of fun in the car and it went through it's annual inspection today ok.
Inside lights: You know the switch has a position that when open door light turns on or dif position for light stays off when open door.
Bottom door panel lights stay on for a short period and turn them selves off. Bulbs on both bad?
gas door lock: Is it sticking or unable to hear when you lock the car?
p.s hurdigurd
I tried the inside light cluster in all positions and nothing doing. I can put them on though manually. Also the map lights individually manually. No matter what the door lights do not work but the bulbs are both good. The petrol door has had the lock removed. The plastic bolt part is still there but not moving electrically. Even if it did there is nothing for it to go behind to keep the gas door closed.
ouch my forehead is sore. lol
Not sure what type of radar detector it was now but I found it inside the front apron when I ahd the front of the car off cleaning the crap from between the radiators and the condensors. The radar was rusted up to hell and not even connected. Just laying there so I took it out and slung it. I have a radar now which i plug into the cig lighter along with my GPS.
First, those co-ax cables are NOT for a radar detector.
What's the purpose of the sealed 12 volt auxillary battery shown in the picture.
Why would someone want to get into or out of this car without allerting passersby via interior illumination?
Police/drug enforcement vehicle?
From your description I think the problem with the lack of gas door locking is a plastic bushing that fits in the hole through which the locking pin should protude is missing.
Twice over the last 10 years or so in my Boxster for some unexplained reason this bushing has come loose and thankfully I spotted it in the fill basin before it fell out to the ground and was lost.
After I reinstalled it a non-locking gas filler door resumed locking.
For some reason without the bushing in place the locking pin does not extend enough to enage the hole in the gas door and thus lock the door.
If this bushing is missing you'll have to I guess order a replacement.
In my Boxster's case the bushing just snaps into the hole though there is a nub on the bushing that ensures the bushing get installed just so. Also, you want to be sure the locking pin is in the bushing hole and not jammed against the bushing after the installation of the bushing.
Sincerely,
Macster.
Tell me something Macster. I presume that the gas door SHOULD unlock at the same time as the inside light SHOULD come on as I unlock the car via the key button. Correct? The gas door has part of the lock missing where the bolt SHOULD go behind/or into to hold the gas door closed when the car is locked up. Therefore it would not lock anyway IF the bolt moved but the bolt does NOT move anyway. Here are a couple of pictures of the lock missing the unkown piece and the bolt which does not move. I see the missing grommet you mentioned from around the bolt. ALSO I traced back the loose wires and removed them from the car as you can see in the last picture.
DBs996 Yes it was a K40 Radar which I removed. It was not connected up and rotten rusty.
WWEST.. I traced the wires back from the auxilary battery and they came to be cut off inside the battery compartment so I removed that today along with the coax wires after tracing those back to dead ends behind the center console. I must say the inside of the bonnet now looks really clean as it should do.
Now can we get these lights and gas door working as they should be?????????????? BTW the car is working as normal after all the wire removals hehe.
You are missing a piece of the fuel door locking mechanism. It may be inside that notched hole. It's a plastic strap that should be attached to the part that protrudes from the hole (piston?). A pretty common problem and a poor design in my opinion.
Edit - i just noticed that you are aware of the missing part.
Could have been a lojack jack type device. One cable (thicker black)looks like an antenna cable for a cell phone and the other (thinner black) looks like the conecction for a GPS antenna.
