Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Can't tell from the cap. In both of my cars I replaced the orignal cap with a new one when the original cap proved to be the source of a leak. Later in the Boxster the original tank failed and was replaced and the same (new) cap retained. The Turbo's original tank is still ok. One way to perhaps determine if the tank is original or a replacement is you can try to find the part number or perhaps a manufactured (at least the date the tank was molded) date molded into the plastic. However, in both cases I think you'll be lucky to be able to spot that info. Another way is to look at the tank. Over time they can get discolored and the older ones so discolored it is hard to determine the coolant level because of the discoloration/staining makes seeing the real coolant level nearly impossible. You might have to view several tanks of varying ages to get a feel for if your's is new or old. Sincerely, Macster.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. I can actually see the liquid level without having to remove the cap so i presume that it must be a newer tank.

POST 9Original post

Thirteeneast was trying to tell us that the current cap has reached revision "004" - means Porsche is still working on this humble cap!
