Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good morning Rennlisters. I replaced my back up light switch this week and I noticed that the shift cables for the transmission were not in the metal slot. Not sure I'm saying this in the best terms, but you have the two cable that come into a cylinder that slides into the metal shape C that is on the outside of the tranny. I was able to line it back up and slide it in, but not sure how or if it needs a clip to keep it in. Here is a picture, not the greatest, but hopefully someone has a answer. Thanks Zenski

POST 2Original post

Yes. You definitely need clips to arrest the shifter cables to the brackets. Your shifter probably felt exceedingly sloppy.

POST 3Original post

There should be a clip on there to hold it in place, the part number is 99642444500 . It looks like your only missing the one but sort of hard to tell from the picture.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, I will order one up.

POST 5Original post

You can use zip ties to hold it in the bracket. The little plastic clips break rather easily

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thought of doing that, but wanted to see what would be said here. Otherwise I was thinking of using the safety wire method. Thanks
