*We are happy that Lindsay is alright after this unfortunate mishap and we hope that the damage which does not appear to be extensive is repaired promptly so that she may enjoy many more miles in her new 991.
Leading evidence: 'Repair promptly so' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair promptly so' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The supposed hit and run ended up being recorded by a surveillance camera that shows the "victim" was not actually hit.

How the hell do you run into the back of a dump truck on PCH (3 lanes where that occured) at 11:30 in the morning.

Since the company refuses to release crash test data, this type of real world data is somewhat useful.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hard to tell which model it is from this shot, so I posted it here! And, it should make Marc feel a little better...

I thought you said Ron Jeremy died, whew!
The post was more to cheer up Marc, putting damage in perspective. And yes, Lohan is a train wreck, and a car wrecker!
*Thank you for your concern. *As you already know, Lindsay has always strived to associate herself with premier products in every aspect of her life. * Lindsay is a huge Porsche aficionado and is looking to support her fan-members of the Porsche and the Rennlist community. Lindsay loves the way her 991 portrays her appreciation for high-style well-driving cars. *We are happy that Lindsay is alright after this unfortunate mishap and we hope that the damage which does not appear to be extensive is repaired promptly so that she may enjoy many more miles in her new 991.
(this post is a joke and not intended to be taken literally or seriously. I have no affiliation with or opinion about Lindsay Lohan whatsoever except that I find her attractive)
How the hell do you run into the back of a dump truck on PCH (3 lanes where that occured) at 11:30 in the morning. Heading Northbound in the slow lane and there little if any traffic that time of day. Yea I'd like to see that tox screen too and I'm sure every rat jounalist in LA is trying bribe that lab's help....
It's sad that such a talented actress has drug problems, but why dwell on what Porsche she was driving? I just hope she wasn't at fault in the collision and hurt someone else.
Geez - what are the chances that Lilo would wreck a rented Porsche. I'm guessing the company that rented it to her wrote it off their books the minute the keys walked out the door.
Count me as a fan though. She did some half decent work when she was younger - not Dakota Fanning / Meryl Streep quality acting or anything - but better than Kristen Stewart for example.
Whatev - like Kyle says - more important things are happening.
I like this:
"Porsche couldn't have had a better round of publicity today than Lindsay Lohan's accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, Calif. Despite a lot of damage to the car, she not only walked away after a brief emergency-room exam, she went back to work on a movie set.
The car appears to be a 911 sports car, and it sustained heavy front-end damage, with most of it on the passenger's side, judging from photos of the accident.
In introducing the latest version of the 911 last year, Porsche said the 911 got its latest safety improvements. For instance, the latest version of the 911 comes with six airbags that protect both for head-on crashes or an offset crash, like the one in Lohan's case.
The body of the car is extensively made of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel, Porsche sways.
"Particular attention was paid in designing and engineering the junctions of the A-pillars (the struts on either side of the windshield that support the roof) and the roof frame, as well as the safety structure involved in head-on and offset collisions," Porsche said. The car was designed to transfer those forces around the doors to the rear of the car, skipping the passenger compartment.
In addition, a crossbar at the front of the car is made from high-strength steel to make sure it doesn't intrude into the footwell area of the passenger compartment."

+1 for the safety of German engineering.
As much as I hate to see anyone getting ino a car accident, I am always interested to see how Porsches perform in these circumstances. Since the company refuses to release crash test data, this type of real world data is somewhat useful.
There's a simple thing to consider here. These cars are designed to be survivable in a crash at close to 200 mph. You can feel pretty safe in a 911.... that is unless you do something really dumb, then all bets are off.
The point being is that the 911 is designed as a race car first and a street car second... well, at least the earlier generations were. I can't say so much about the 991
I don't think any production car, let alone a Porsche, can take a 200mph crash without killing the occupants.
Even a Formula1 crash at 200mph can be very risky to the driver.
My point was not the speed, but the fact that a crash in a Porsche is a lot more survivable than in many other street cars.

1) Since it took place on a track, you don't know if that car had a roll cage and whether the driver had a three point harness + helmet.
2) The fact that it was flipping multiple times and took a long time before coming to a rest is what saved the driver.
3) Porsches have great active safety. (The ability to avoid accidents in the first place).
4) With regards to passive safety (how the car performs in a collision) it has some disadvantages. Low mass, and a low frontal crash structure. Don't kid yourself that a 911 is any safer in an actual collision than your average modern sedan.
What I do not understand is that some film studio has hired her to do a TV special on Liz (Taylor) and Dick (Burton). I can only imagine what their actor insurance is when you have Lindsay Lohan on contract. I can just see it now--they get half of it shot with LL and then she winds up in jail for 9 months. it's really hard to shoot the balance of the film between the bars....
That was a fool's bet to hire her for anything.
I agree with jury_ca. I'm pretty sure race-cars have strong roll-cages. And that particular accident was survivable mainly because of the roll-cage (possibly a strengthened body also). The G-forces in the spins might be daunting, but its not X mph to 0 in a jiffy.. which is what crash-tests count.
In any case.. the LiLo crash was just unfortunate that it had to be a Porsche - my guess is that she would've crashed any car that day
Like another poster said, Porsches don't overcome the laws of physics. In a 40 mph head on impact with a 2012 Accord or Camry, I'd rather be in the Accord or Camry.
True quote from the 996 manual:
"The increased control that is provided should not induce you to take greater risks with your safety.
The limits dictated by the laws of physics cannot be overcome, even with PSM.
"
you know this phrase has been thrown around a lot on this forum. I really think it's a Fable.
will someone please take a screen shot of the ACTUAL manual with that phrase in there? I looked over my 996 MY03 manual and couldnt find that.
Nor the "all porsches are red-lined on the autoban before being sold as new" or however the saying goes.
And she's done it again.
Personally I don't think I would even class it as an incident though.
Same car my ****.
