Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone use over the counter octane booster? Is it safe/effective? I know many are against additives of any type and will say "just stick with what it's made for and get some 93 pump" but I'm just curious...

POST 2Original post

They only boost the octane by one point BUT one point is NOT one octane. One point is 0.1 octane, so the "boost" is really insignificant. Save your money.

POST 3Original post

The only ingredient of these that will boost octane is toluene and its in too small a quantity to have much effect. Its bloody nasty stuff too. What I have used it for is for a racing engine designed for Aviation fuel when I didn't have any Av gas to hand and to stop detonation on high octane pump gas. It actually worked to some degree, but pure toluene would have worked better.
