Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2002 Coupe, OEM rear is 285/30/18. Can I replace with 295/30/18 on same factory wheel? What would be advantages/disadvantages? Using PSS-9 suspension.
Thanks!
Yes you can, and there probably won't be any advantage or disadvantage. I personally find the 285 rather short sidewall and little extra the 295 has might make it look better.
Jetskied is probably correct that there won't be any advantage/disadvantage, since the size change is relatively minor.
The 2002 Turbo has 295/30 rears, but I'm not sure if the wheel width was changed to accomodate the larger tire. If it's the same width wheel/offset you're home free in that regard. If not, I'd be a little leery of puting a larger tire on a wheel not designed for it, primarily because the car has the ability to generate some serious speed, both straight line and laterally. The slightly larger diameter might impact the car's braking since the ABS was set up for a certain diameter, but this is probably negligible.
I've got 285/30s on my 2002 and have had it parked next to a Turbo with 295s -when they're side-by-side if you look really hard you might notice a tiny difference. On the road or sitting by itself you'll be hard pressed to notice any difference, either in the track or the sidewall, unless of course the larger tires rubs on the fenderwells.........
If you have 10" rears, some 295/30s are not recommened by the manufacturer for a 10". There is also a lot of variability in different tires. I have 285/30s that are wider than some 295/30s. All the numbers are also nominal as well. I would recommend getting either 285 or 295 with the first consideration being what's the best tire for your application.
Really thats odd because I have 19" wheels that are 10.5" with 315/25. I mean 1/2 inch is rather minimal wider when changing to 315 and 2/5 series. The 295/30 is not too wide for a 10" rim. The differences are small.
As mentioned, you really need to compare the 285 to the 295 directly because the sizes do vary. All other things being equal, I would expect to see a slight decrease in performance from a 295. It should be slightly taller effectively increasing your gear ratios. It should be slightly heavier. Maybe only a pound or two but that pound is located on the outer edge of the circle you are trying to rotate. It will be slighly pinched on a 10 inch wheel (most recommend a 10.5) so your contact patch won't be any bigger and, finally, you really don't want more stick in back anyway. You would be better off putting bigger tires in front.
Bottom line, if you are doing it for looks I wouldn't worry about it. They should fit fine. If you are doing it for performance, you're probably working on the wrong end of the car.
