as for me, I was able to run 4 sessions - then we held an "open session" which filled up fast but after about 1/2 hour thinned out a tad...I went out and drove for nearly an hour - really found the line, the a strange thing happened....I noticed I wasnt passing or being passed.....came to the realization I was the only car on track...for 30 minutes I ran the track completely alone

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know if Ed took a hiatus again from Rennlist? Did he sell his Porsche, did he just disappear into the Mtns...WHERE are you Ed? did you get banned?

POST 2Original post

I last saw him in t his Fav Indy shop. With the holiday and year end crush I have not been there but one myself. I am sure he has not sold that Red Carrera... unless he won the lotto?

POST 3Original post

I was wondering about him as well. I was about to email him or something to make sure he is ok

POST 4Original post

Last activity was 12/12. He's either in traction or jail.

POST 5Original post

No kidding on being in traction. A friend in Colorado broke his back doing the slopes wiping out on a ramp at extreme speeds then landing on his head and shoulders. He can walk and such but army has him reporting to work since the doctor didn't write him a note for the visit. I told him his unit saying he has to report to work is because they want his box full of heavy pain killers hehehe. Anyway I hope he is doing well and not a broken lump of pain like some of us have managed lately. Personally I think there is a high likelyhood he tried kissing his car in the garage and his lips froze to his cherry red car. Maybe by spring he'll be back.

POST 6Original post

Maybe he is warming up in Mexico for the holidays chillin on the beach with a margarita in one hand and a little senorita in the other...

POST 7Original post

I'm sure Ed is fine.....probably fed up up (like me) with the 3 lettered swear word that begins with I and end with S.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

He can't lurk without commenting...

POST 10Original post

I bet he's very busy doing his annual Wrong Parts inventory. That takes a lot of time you know...

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 9138033

I think that's it - a truck load of "new" 996 parts came in and he wants to see if they'll fit his car. If he were here, then he wouldn't be able to resist commenting.

POST 12Original post

This needs to be a two page topic with all that Ed has brought to the boards.

POST 13Original post

Ed seems to be OK, he has posted on my FB yesterday. Happy and Safe New Year to all!

POST 14Original post

How do you know that it isn't being posted by some hooker that has Ed tied up in the basement with a gag-ball in his mouth? I wouldn't believe it unless it mentions a part that doesn't fit.

Ed is that really you? Good one Divot.

POST 17Original post

I'm guessing he's taking a semi-annual self-imposed exile from RL. Maybe part of a 12-step program . Ed: "Hi, my name is Ed, and I'm a Rennlist addict." Group: ***HELLO ED!***

POST 19Original post

Maybe he already used up his annual allocation and we have to wait until Sunday.

POST 20Original post

Nice.... Happy New year you guys! Santa brought me a bunch of random used **** and I think it suppose to fit my car? Truth is I have been very busy and had to give up something. RL is a great place and I enjoy all of you (well most of you) but I have made some pretty major changes over the last 2+ months that will really be time consuming. My priorities have been shifted to the following areas: I am being groomed for the "Chair" of the PNWR PCA DE Committee. This has meant a lot of learning and will consume a lot of time over the next year. If things work out well, in 2013 I will be the acting Chair of the board. The "job" is WAY over my head and requires me to really do a lot....but I am coming up to speed. Second, since I will hit EVERY DE and Every Skills Day in 2012..I have been working like mad on my car putting on stuff someone else told me should fit. - The one "grey area" is a second set of wheels I could use help with spacer calculations on - FERD!!! Third...I have been making parts for the older cars and they are selling well on Pelican Parts. I sold about $3.5k worth of them the last couple months and I am working hard to keep up with orders and to promote the product. That time spend is important so I can have the extra money needed to support my habit of buying **** that dont fit! So thank you all for the nice thread, the emails and the smiles...I have really laughed at them all! I'll try and stop by from time to time, but just not nearly as much as before. If needed, i can always be emailed thru here, Pelican Parts, or direct at my user name @msn.com The happiest of new year, a successful ownership experience and a fun filled calendar of track days to you all.... Ed

POST 26Original post

Ed, glad you stopped by to say hi. Best of luck on your new journey and for a prosperous 2012 my friend! Cheers!

POST 27Original post

Good luck with your new venture, Ed. And thanks for volunteering for the DE role. I'm delegated to checking wristbands before track entry. But I'm good at it!

POST 28Original post

thanks guys..yea David...good to volunteer...the benefits are pretty good too....but mostly its the relationships, learning and sharing...I am having a blast! as for what I make....here are a couple threads Cheers! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...-ala-ed-m.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...jacks-car.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...t-coupler.html I also sell them locally and they have been well received in the community as a "big improvement for little money"

Hey Ed, nice to hear from you. What a beautiful day today was in Seattle! One of these days we need to get together for a beer. Any other Seattlites in?

POST 40Original post

I am thinking of a trip to Griot's Garage Tacoma Saturday for their monthly Cars & Coffee? But if a Beer is a better option lets pick a place... There is always Triple X for a ROOT Beer!

POST 42Original post

Hey Steve...no skiing this year, wasnt in the cards - Car is great, better than great...loving it, I have days when i miss the 996 for sure, but I never have a day I am not glad I have the 86' GTG would be great....Tap House in Bellevue has like 200 beers on tap, we could sample them - but not a good "car guy" spot....XXX meet last weekend, did anyone go, we had 3" of snow! if you guys set up a day email me at (my user ID)@msn.com Cheers !!

POST 47Original post

driving by waving - Hi ya all!!! first DE at the worlds newest track last Saturday - Our chapter of the PCA was the first ever DE to be held here and all in all it went great. as for me, I was able to run 4 sessions - then we held an "open session" which filled up fast but after about 1/2 hour thinned out a tad...I went out and drove for nearly an hour - really found the line, the a strange thing happened....I noticed I wasnt passing or being passed.....came to the realization I was the only car on track...for 30 minutes I ran the track completely alone talk about fun - on one hand I would have enjoyed a friend to "play with" but it was so cool just completely focused on myself....the time was very beneficial to learning to let the car really go and keep the momentum rolling...removed some of my downshifts and just rolled though, amazing amount of grip - Padig pads and although I was still running my street tires - they didnt fade too bad till later in my session - but I just let them howl!!! See some of you in a week!

POST 49 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

#454 looks sweet Ed. Glad to see you enjoying your Porsche and the track.

POST 50Original post

Thanks Steve! I am.... the R888's just got dropped off at the shop along with my other wheels....gonna have some fun come the 18th looks like your avatar needs some sunshine!

POST 51Original post

Go Ed! What a way to enjoy the car and some quiet time at the track!

POST 52Original post

(That's actually Ed just going to work. You should see him on the track!)

POST 53Original post

Oh YEAH! Love the stance Ed. Good to see you stopping by.

POST 56Original post

HAHA James! the hand out the window is because I am making an airplane wing and testing LIFT - Good to see you Ferd, Mark - and sorry Ed....it aint all about YOU !! as for the stance I could drop it a little more but after corner balance dont want to re-pay for that little twist of the screws (yikes!) These go on for the next DE - it will change the look a lot, but more important...the corner speeds should go WAY UP

POST 58Original post

yes in deed not exactly the wheels I wanted - but you know how that leather thing in your back pocket has a way of making what you want and what you get look very different

POST 59Original post

Quotes source post: 9442264

FIFY Thanks for stopping by!

POST 60Original post

The road surface doesn't care what your wheels look like or where they came from.

POST 61Original post

its weight James...these are a tad heavy PLUS they require additional spacers which are pretty heavy I would like a bolt on - lighter wheel with a bi-level effect, and not too expensive

POST 63Original post

Do you need the spacers for the wheels to clear the calipers?

POST 64Original post

just to bolt them on...the offsets are 55mm off in rear and 32mm off in front....they would hit the inner fender well before they contact the hub

POST 65 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Are those tires street legal Ed? How about in the rain? Looks like you are quite the track rat.

POST 66Original post

awe... yea.... they are legal....I think track rat ? WUAH? dude....I am having the time of my life, my ONLY regret is not getting into this earlier - DE today and its raining, I am running these tires so i will report back - my goal for the day: later braking smoother brake pedal release pass all the turbo's and GT3's and that damn GTR! (ok well maybe not, but I can dream right) the car is WAY different than it was 2 weeks ago, really a little nasty *****, noisy and loves to go though the turns faster than I am comfortable with right now....really sticks! The brakes come on really well and without ABS I have to re-find the threshold point...its NUTSO HIGH! once the weight is forward I can really come to a stop so fast it shocks me, I have been thinking I have so much brake i will never need it all cant wait to need more packed and heading out in about an hour

POST 67 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hope your track time is put to good use even with some rain. Do you ever get to ride with an instructor piloting your Porsche? Sounds like you are having a blast with your 911.

POST 68Original post

Very cool Ed... make sure you post some vids. When is the welded roll bar coming in?

POST 69Original post

Front fender rolling is next...never on track but on city streets I tagged a tire hitting a pot hole - no damage, just a real quick tap...but going to roll em I am hoping for some video soon, my camera is on loan but there is some video out there I guess I forgot to report back on the tires - DE we had rain, pretty heavy rain that tapered off as the day went on to a dry afternoon - first session was raining - I passed EVERY SINGLE CAR in my run group - holy **** !! when we hit the paddock people were coming over saying "holy crap, you were fast, what tires are you on" good for them it stopped raining and my measly 200 HP was out gunned in the straights - my corner speeds were 20 mph higher than I have ever run....and the tires didnt mind, no noise, no feeling of control loss - I know these are more likely to have a very sharp drop off point and recovery is nearly impossible so while getting to know them I was still only about 8-9 tenths max but the speeds are incredible and I was able to really enjoy the subtle line changes that allowed me to carry more speed in since the little ponies just dont put down the power of the new cars overall - I will not be tracking the Conti's or Sumi's ever again, this was $ spent right....seriously changed the car - but keep in mind the suspension was already done - it is a must do as well Cheers dudz!

POST 75Original post

one clean car Marc!! thanks for the pic - hard to get those out of you

POST 76Original post

here's one for you 996 guys.... my buddy bought an early track prepped car and I have befriended a group of enthusiasts as a result. I have been coaching driving on the weekend and one other fella has an Aero which he asked me to test out turns out I like the 996 quite a bit but found myself in speeding a couple times. We are a good group and obey the laws when training - but the car was just so easy to GO!! In the end I am still very happy with my 3.2 although I have not seen it in 2 weeks because I have it stored while playing with these other cars. anyhow we learned the car (996) needs some alignment/tire adjustments and maybe suspension/braking - the car was very unsettled at speed and braking is erratic with diving in random directions - good to get fixed BEFORE our next track day..... here's a pic I took last weekend showing the black track toy and the Aero side by side...I was driving a cream puff 86' all stock - very sweet ride!

POST 77 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Ed, aren't your 996 friends afraid that spirited driving might cause their water cooled Porsche to detonate, especially when playing with the older air cooled crowd?

POST 79Original post

I'm trying to figure out where you took that picture, Ed. In Tacoma, on the way to Bremerton?

POST 80Original post

I-90 heading east just as we approach I-405 at factoria first bridge above is the old train tracks, the second one in the far view is I-405 I was in Bremerton Saturday - what a great day! My neice took the drivers skills course and my boys volunteered to **** cones. all in all I brought 8 people to the event. If it wasnt sold out I had 2 others wanting to get in...next one is already sold out so if you want to get in sign up early! ALL skills events are open to register for the whole year. Plan ahead...see you there!

POST 81Original post

I have to say I'm partial to that yellow aero. My folks live in Gig Harbor, maybe I'll have to plan my next visiting trip up there for a track day and drive up there instead of fly.
