Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

The SAI works by pumping extra air into the intake post-MAF during warmup to make the car run leaner to help the cats warm up faster.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I removed my SAI pump on my Race Car. I would like to know how to disable the sensor in the DME so I don't get the CEL. I don't know if I even need the CEL, I could just remove the CEL bulb :-) Thanks, Eric

POST 2Original post

I removed mine and don't have any issues. However my ECU has been massaged by Protomotive, so maybe thats why. Are you running VCAM+ and a 5.8.8 ECU?

POST 3Original post

You can't just remove the SAI and put a resistor on the missing plug to get rid of the CEL, that will only get rid of one source of the CEL. The SAI works by pumping extra air into the intake post-MAF during warmup to make the car run leaner to help the cats warm up faster. The computer looks for this lean condition at the primary O2, if it does not detect it when the SAI pump is running, it will throw a readiness code. In order to fully disable the SAI, you need to code out the aforementioned readiness check.
