Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. I am running H&R Euro spec lowering springs on my 996 and find that I do have slightly uneven tire wear, not much different than your own.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Pulled my wheels yesterday to clean brake calipers. Found inside of both fronts badly worn. Expensive tires, too bad, looks like they're shot! Left and right have worn evenly, car tracks straight down the road. What to do before I replace with new rubber? It's too much negative camber, correct? Is this easily corrected?
Thanks in advance.
You should not see that kind of tire wear, front or back. Camber has nothing to do with the wear. Toe in is out.
Remove all junk(dead weight) from the car. Make sure the spare tire/tool kit are secure in their proper locations. Fill up the gas tank. Then have the front tires replaced. Then have the car properly aligned.
Sincerely,
Macster.
I have seen camber wear like that before depending on how aggressive the camber is, if the camber isn't very aggressive then the camber wear will be more even from one side of the tire to the next, the more aggressive the further to one side it would be. Though inner wear like that can be indicative of improper toe, my experience with incorrect toe has slight cupping on the inner edges of the tires as well as uneven wear.

Standard front camber specs for a 996 are 0deg plus or minus 15' euro spec is 15' plus or minus an additional 15'. so up to 0 to -30' can be acceptable my pcar is at -20' in the front with 8mm spacers.
rear is factory -1deg 10' plus or minus 15' so there will naturally be uneven tire wear in the back.
Factory front toe is +5' plus or minus 5' and rear toe is +10' plus or minus 5' so toe is not supposed to be strait either so you will have some toe wear as well.
You drive a sports car that is meant to handle like "magic" which means aggressive stance and terrible tire wear. You can get your alignment checked out, make sure it is within factory spec, not zero, but I highly doubt it is out far from spec if at all.
Just out of curiosity since it is hard to gage remaining tread depth from a picture, I can see the insides seem to have just hit the wear bars which I assume is 3/32nds of an inch, what is left on the outside is what interests me though.
Another question, are both fronts worn evenly? chances are if toe is off it will not be identically out on both sides which would mean one tire is worn worse than the other.
Thanks for your reply Macster, I value your opinion.
Jordanturbo, I too have H&R springs, and what I'm told are "Porsche cup" sway bars and drop links. The fronts looked new from center to outside, I'd say 3/16" of tred for 3/4 of tire. If you look at the top of the pictue you can get a little better perspective. It kills me as I'd figured they'd last through another set of rears, which are wearing evenly but are at the bars all the way across. As far as even left to right they aren't identical but are very very similar.
Thanks again!
I just replaced my tires for the same reason. My mechanic said the camber was within spec but the toe was off as Macster said. The car handles much better now too. No more pulling at the steering wheel when I cut across a groove in the road.
Get alignment checked at porsche Indies or shop that sees a lot of these cars .. do not rely on monkey at local discount tire store for that .. sometimes they can do ok .. other times this is what you get ... not worth the savings
