I was sure there was a way to disable the tension on the roof so that you could use the switches to open the latches, manually fold the roof and use the switches to put the rear cover back down etc.

Okay, it's driving me mad. Where is the DIY to change the 996 convertible roof to full manual operation? I've read it on here before. I've searched for a few hours now. I've seen it referenced on here about 10 times. I even referred to it myself two years ago when I joined! Newbie nonsense I know but I would GREATLY appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction. It's very sunny here in Atlanta and I want to put the roof down! Cheers!

I don't know if you "change" it to full manual operation. There is a procedure to operate the top manually in emergency situations. (i.e. your battery is dead and it starts raining) The procedure is in your owner's manual.
