Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have an older MY99 same color combo in a coupe and love it(except it just doesn't stay clean).

Just make sure you drive weekly and change the oil every year/5k or so ...

First mod I would do is change the orange side markers to clear euro ones !
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Been lurking on the boards reading up on a lot of great info you guys post here. Former BMW enthusiast making the jump to P cars.

Only changes are a Porsche factory new crate 2007 997 3.6L motor installed and 19" lobster claw 997S wheels with Pirelli PZERO rosso tires. Motor had about 1k miles on it when I picked it up with the chassis having 78k.
Paid 26K
Had a PPI done by Gulf Performance in Ft. Lauderdale which by the way is a great shop and Vinnie is a very customer friendly mechanic. Gave me the no BS version of a PPI I was after.
Picked up the car in Florida and proceeded to drive 1000 miles of problem free driving back home. Had a tough time deciding between the Targa and a C4S but after driving with the top retracted all the way up the Florida turnpike on a beautiful day I'm glad I went with the Targa.
Looking forward to picking up more knowledge here.
Pics of the first fill up:
welcome and nice targa! can't beat the price with a "new" 3.6L underneath. If the interior is as nice as the outside, all you need to do is enjoy the drive.
Congrats on your new Targa with a new replacement engine, nice. I have an older MY99 same color combo in a coupe and love it(except it just doesn't stay clean).
Nice car .. Sounds like good deal. I also have black targa and agree that this is great compromise between coupe and convertible. I went to the rennsport reunion in Monterey last year and out of 1000+ porsches in the parking lot was the only 996 targa I saw .. So hopefully rarerity value ! First mod I would do is change the orange side markers to clear euro ones ! Looks much better. New engine alone is worth close to 20k !! Just make sure you drive weekly and change the oil every year/5k or so ...
I've got the invoice for the engine swap and I'm glad the PO took a majority of the hit on that one. I am going to try to fight the mod bug as long as I can and just drive this one. My previous cars I felt like I put more time into working on it than just enjoying it.
