Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought this wing from a member on this forum and it doesn't have any mount for the engine compartment fan or the air intake. It is a completely open space but I know that engine fan needs to be there for cooling, right? I was hoping this the install would be a DIY like the seller stated, but I dont see how that is possible. Has anyone installed a wing like this before? How does the fan & intake attach to the bottom of the wing? I should mention that the side intakes on the wing do lead to the engine compartment so when the car is moving there should be airflow, but I'm not sure that is enough, any thoughts?

POST 2Original post

Doesn't look like there's a place to mount the fan...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yea, im curious if anyone has installed a wing like this before & if so, how? create a new bracket for the fan?

POST 4Original post

If that whole grill is open you won't need a fan. That is like the aircooled grills you will be venting engine heat all of the time not just when the fan comes on. Probably run cooler. If I were mounting that lid I would put the air intake foam on the snorkle to help seal it from pulling hot air from the engine bay.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good point, the air ducts are functional, but maybe adding some air ram to it would make it more effective to cool the engine.. The thing is that there would be not much cooling when the car isnt in motion on a hot day, right?

POST 6Original post

I've never seen this particular wing. I think the lower grill design is a good idea. I believe the engine compartment fan is switched on when the engine compartment temperature is > 176 degrees F or the coolant temperature is > 216 degrees F. So in many cases the fan rarely comes on anyway depending on what part of the country you live in or if you track it. Can't wait to see it installed on your car.
