I think that if you check carefully you will find that when they changed to a glass rear window they also changed the frame and the storage area.

I think that if you check carefully you will find that when they changed to a glass rear window they also changed the frame and the storage area.

From what I know it should work as long as it is before 2003, thats when they changed alot of the mechanisms.

Having trouble finding any info on this. Looking to replace my 1999 Cab plastic window convertible top with a top from a 2002 with glass window. It's used and still mounted on the frame. I'm being told it should bolt right up. Anyone have experience with this? It's coming from an experienced Porsche recycler who says it will work. I just don't feel like eating all that shipping if it's wrong. If it's right, I'll have a good glass window for less than half the cost. Thanks!

Not a chance that it will bolt right in. the storage area is completely changed. Take a look in a parts program and see how many parts changed from 2001 to 2002. It can be done but you will be buying many other parts to do s.

Here's what I'm being told... From what I know it should work as long as it is before 2003, thats when they changed alot of the mechanisms. I double checked myself in the Porsche system and none of the parts show that they differ from 99-02.

I think that if you check carefully you will find that when they changed to a glass rear window they also changed the frame and the storage area. With a plastic rear window the window folds when down. With a glass rear window it can't fold. There are aftermarket tops with glass for the older models but the window is much smaller. Remember that with parts and updates they are not necessarily done on the model change dates.
