Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Since they are sealed off from the sump by the gasket and oil sump pan, I'm guessing nowhere. Well, that's my guess.

POST 3Original post

Ragnarok Ok, I've actually wondered that myself.

POST 4Original post

Only one way to find out, pop them out.. (Evil laugh) Okay in all seriousness, don't pop those stoppers out but I can't quite remember what that was when I had the case torn in half. But if I roughly remember I think it was part of the coolant flow track. Since there was a rectangular seal that went near there.

POST 5Original post

Im no M96 expert, but in other engines, those look like freeze plugs. Freeze plugs are designed to pop out or break if the coolant in the engine ever freezes. Most fluid expands when it freezes. The idea is that its a lot cheaper to replace failed freeze plugs than a cracked engine block.
