Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I went with Sach's and turns out that's what was in there when it was replaced at 60k from the dealership.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Going to put a new clutch into my 02 4S which should i get. EPS states its an upgrade over the original, thoughts? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

I looked at it closely, but in the end the Sachs or Luk kit from Rockauto is cheaper and OEM so I went with that. The extra material on the EPS clutch disk is in on the inside, diameter is the same. As you move closer to center the holding power decreases, so I didn't see it as a huge advantage.

POST 3Original post

I went with Sach's and turns out that's what was in there when it was replaced at 60k from the dealership.

POST 4Original post

As Cosmos Kramer stated , there is not much increase in holding power with the wider surface of the ECS clutch at the same diameter. More surface area spreads the pressure out over a larger area, but does not increase the pressure or holding power. It does increase wear surface , but at a cost of a heavier pressure plate weight and a disk weight which will make shifting gears less efficient.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
