Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Nope, the 964 C4 used a system similar to the 959.
Leading evidence: 'Use system similar' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use system similar' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know it's a fast car, and I know it's eminently collectible, but damn the 959 is a fugly car. 80% 911, 20% Supra.
It's got all of the ugly elements of a Testarossa without the Testarossa-ness.
Also, why is it that Porsche gets away with cutting gaping holes in various body panels when they need more air? Rolf and Wolfgang decided the turbo needs more air, so they took a Sawzall to the car...
Lol, it's great you guys don't buy into the hype. I agree, not the prettiest car and probably not the car I'd buy if I had that kind of money. But it's pretty exciting to watch the auction.
Damn, I got outbid!
now $777,777, cute.
Heated elec seats too. Kinda like a 76 Caddy Eldorado.
So - CA title, but it can't be registered in CA? Also
should be
street legal in the remaining 49. Yeah - doubt it. That is interesting. I wonder what kind of title it's on? Could be display and show, not for highway I guess. Likely not in NY where I think they copied CA emission rules pretty close. Wonder if Seinfeld has one and where it's registered?
^ I thought the same thing - Most stuff is either 50-state or 48-state legal; I'm not as familiar with 49-state legal.
The tail of that Porsche is longer than the nose of a Buick. Old-school, long-tail aero, maybe...
Or it might not actually be any longer than a 911 - just uglier. Not sure.
I'm not an expert, but I believe cars that 25+ years old can be imported legally even if they have not met emissions or safety standards from a Federal perspective. It's just that California has stringent emissions criteria that makes this a 49 state car.
That was the first C4, but my understanding is that through the 996 the system pretty much stayed the same and the 997 was the first real overhaul. Could be wrong though.
I feel very similarly about it & think a regular TT has better lines. The power and ability to put it down for that year is an incredible engineering feat though.
The white one looks good.
3 hours and some change remaining, and its at a "bargain" of $800K so far. Comments mention this car was a RNM at $1.1M on ebay. Will be fun to see how this escalates.

Nope, the 964 C4 used a system similar to the 959. The 993 to the 997.1 N/A cars used a viscous coupling without the fancy systems of the earlier cars. 997.1 turbo and 997.2 NA went back to a computer controlled clutch set up.
The thing that struck me was the discipline of these bidders. The guy who put up the $810K final bid - he lost an earlier auction that had a final bid of $4,000...he bid $2500 and stopped.
