Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I would also recommend when changing oil, remove the skid plate because oil doesn't straight down and the topside of the skid plate will be coated with oil.
Leading evidence: 'Use bolts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend when' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Run your bead closer to the outside edge except when looping in for the bolt holes of course.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I ordered the deep sump pan with the X51 baffles from FVD. Something just dawned on me...
The OEM oil pan bolts are M6X16
With the thicker plate of the deep sump - wouldn't I need to have longer bolts? The FVD site has the 'oil pan install kit' which comes with the OEM bolts and some 5900.
If I were to look at the Brey Krause site (for instance) their deep sump pan comes with M6X25 bolts....
Anyone have experience with this?
EDIT: Maybe the lip is the same thickness as OEM... .
As gator said, same bolts. I did order new ones though. The FVD install kit is actually a good deal over buying parts separately.
Two install tips. Over siliconing is a common mistake, use a small bead. 2nd, the FVD lip is wider than the mating surface. Run your bead closer to the outside edge except when looping in for the bolt holes of course.
Yes. On my second tube. It is a bit of a pain but it's spec so I use it. I put a rag over the plunger to use it (very hard to push) but I think I saw someone else put it into a caulking gun.
Hey there
Interesting thread!
I'm curious to understand ho much ground clearance is lost once this kit is installed?
I have a bitch of a driveway and if take it just slightly too fast or on the wrong angle, it'll hit the ground with that very expensive grating sound...
But I'd like to look at getting one of these - if I don't lose too much room etc.

For ground clearance you could take into account that it sits around an inch lower compared to stock.
I think FVD offers also an optional protective skid plate.
In fact it is genuine OEM Porsche and has partnr. 996 107 981 00
No idea if it is compatible with the deeper X51 oil pan though.
You'll need to bend the tabs on the skid plate to fit. I did that on my old 996. I would also recommend when changing oil, remove the skid plate because oil doesn't straight down and the topside of the skid plate will be coated with oil.
