Suggestion

I'd check all 4 ABS sensors to see if one has been chafed and is intermittently grounding.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In the last week my abs light comes on while driving. I can shut off the engine and start it back up and it may or may not come back on. mostly stays off. It comes on while driving and not braking. What is causing this?

POST 2Original post

Is it JUST the ABS light, or the ABS + PSM light? (if you have PSM) There are several causes of the ABS+PSM light; I don't know if they're applicable to a car with no PSM.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's just the abs light. Thanks

POST 5Original post

I'd check all 4 ABS sensors to see if one has been chafed and is intermittently grounding. If you have a durametric, there should be codes/events being logged. The best way to diagnose is to read the code(s) being thrown and see why the car thinks there is an issue. If the resistance value through one of the sensors is unexpected (i.e. out of acceptable range), ABS codes will be thrown; common reasons for unexpected resistance is a short to ground or corroded connector. I asked about PSM because there are several causes for the ABS+PSM warning combo, but if your car does have PSM and the PSM light isn't also coming on, I'd advise you to skip those troubleshooting steps (brake switch, bad MAF, etc) and limit the scope to just ABS. Reading the codes may save you a whole lot of trial-and-error troubleshooting; any time you're getting a warning light, finding out from the module thrown the error what it thinks is wrong is always the best place to start.

When it come's on again I'll check the code. Thanks
