Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Repair were' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair were' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I just picked up my car from having the clutch replaced and at the same time replaced the stock IMS bearing with the EPS replacement bearing which is a cylindrical roller bearing that also feeds pressurized oil through the shaft right onto the bearing.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just hit 80k on my 2003 4s. Bought it with 54k on it 2 years ago this month. I drive this car every day and love every second of it!
I just picked up my car from having the clutch replaced and at the same time replaced the stock IMS bearing with the EPS replacement bearing which is a cylindrical roller bearing that also feeds pressurized oil through the shaft right onto the bearing. I think this is one of the better solutions and it feels much better driving around without having to worry about the engine killing itself! Original bearing was good, but you never know....
Next up will be brake pads and rotors, along with spacers. Coilovers, sway bars and bushings to follow (cannot wait for this one) and lastly the sound system. Some small cosmetic things here and there inbetween, and I am sure I will find more, and more and more to do. I will be keeping this car for a long time needless to say! Anyways happy to own this machine!
Thanks! So the EPS bearing and oil feed pump was $698, and install was $390. I also had the clutch done, so there is the cost of dropping the engine...
Boy oh boy am I glad I bought & installed mine when the price was low. Around last Xmas the price dropped and the whole kit was on sale for $450. Of course purchasing new seals for the oil pump, tensioner gaskets, O-rings, new fly wheel bolts + oil & new filter added a bit to the cost. But if you drop the motor yourself the cost is significantly bit less.
So all parts replaced/repaired were:
-replaced clutch assembly with new clutch kit (disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing)
-re-surface flywheel
-EPS IMS bearing w/oil feed
-replaced 2 cat oxygen sensors
-new oil filter, drain plug, motul oil
-replaced gasket - exhaust manifold to cat converter
All parts and labor came out to, ready, gulp, $3300. Touchy subject the cost of all this... I understand the savings of doing the work yourself, and can appreciate ones ability to have the time and resources to do so.
I went out of town and was able to drop off the daily driver while I was out and came back to a car ready to go which was great. Along with the peace of mind the stupid bearing that was never going to go out on my car in the first place, haha, will not kill my engine at ANY SECOND! Even parked in the garage while not running... Totally possible...
Anyways curious for the feedback, I am hoping it was reasonable and I didn't get hosed. Either way cheaper than replacing the engine all day long. Thanks
Parts alone are about 2500? It takes full day labor to replace those, so I would say that's reasonable.
After all, its the smiles per gallon that matters
That is reasonable. The indy I went to in Mission Viejo quoted me $3700 for a clutch, RMS, and L&N IMS install (parts and labor). I then proceeded with it and ended up paying about $5,800 as we found out more parts needed to be replaced when he dropped the engine.
Who is your indy, if you don't mind me asking? I also have an 03 C4S.. I am looking to go get some work done as I would like coil overs or maybe start with lowering springs for now + spacers, and new exhaust in the near future. Maybe you and I can do a group buy on coilovers?
Well shoot, once she's open there is that chance there is more to find! Feels good to get it handled though...
So I have been going to James at Redline Automotive in Orange for a little while now and he is awesome. Super awesome. Really trustworthy and cares about his work. I previously was going to Robert in Costa Mesa at Auto Strausse and he too is great. I ended up moving from Costa Mesa and discovered James who is literally a 5 min drive from my work so started going to him.
And I would be down to try and get a group buy going eventually for coilovers! I am planning on going with the h&r coilovers, they seem like a great bang for the buck. Pacing myself with expenses so it'll be just a little time before I get those bad boys, but I will put it out there cause that is a great idea
LN's looks pretty great too, I just went with the EPS since that is what my indy recommended and has been installing for a while now. I would imagine they are both good options?
