Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'll point out some spots where we, uh, tested drag coefficients of our vehicles.
Leading evidence: 'Test drag coefficients of our vehicles' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run on sunday instead' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

And it was soooo boooring hahaha. It's just too easy with the 996. Didn't have to shift gears, at some point I stopped braking for most turns...a bit of engine braking was enough unless there was traffic. My toddler was watching cartoons on the iPad the whole time...she didn't even notice we were going through twisties.
I'll try Mulholland next, I might actually have to shift and brake. If I'm lucky, maybe even a heel toe.
I've griped about the running costs of this car before, but it really is an unbelievable value for the performance. It's too much car for the street. Argh...I'm gonna have to move some things around to fund trackdays.
Perhaps a Rennlist ACH group run is in order? It's been quite some time since I've driven it as well as I am just north of San Diego Country line so tend to drive the roads around here.
Probably
Limit is 45 towards the bottom part on the La Canada side and used to be patrolled quite frequently. I was surprised I didn't see any chippies up there, maybe because "summer" is over.
I hear ya. I've had to rebuild my bike a few times due to some mishaps there.
Pick a time and day and I'll join if I can. I honestly might bring up the motorcycle though, just not very challenging in the Porsche.
I'm down. It's my go-to 'stretch the legs' road. All the way over on the 2, then back on the Highway. 55mph limit for most of it. Almost all in 3rd gear.
Maybe another road would be better? One with less LE presence, less known (=less traffic), and more challenging?
Highway 138 from Cajon Junction off the 15 to Crestline / Arrowhead for example. This road is amazing with very little traffic and great scenery. A little farther out for a lot of you but might be worth it.
Looks fabulous! I'm down. Anyone go to the PCA LA member meeting this Saturday in Calabasas? I'll be there, most likely and would love to go for a drive after. Maybe 33 off Ojai or 138?
LE presence hasn't been an issue on the 2 for me, so far. But I usually go during the week, when it's utterly empty.
I have a photo shoot in Palm Springs with one of my other cars on Saturday. I was thinking about going to the Long Beach motorcycle swap meet on Sunday (trying to sell one of my Harley's) but may skip it. Could do the 138 run on Sunday instead. The weather should be nice. A little cooler up in the mountains.
I don't think I've ever done that road. What time were you guys thinking? I might be able to squeeze it in it can be early on Sunday - like 8:30 or something. But I'm a tentative, so if others can make it definitively at other times, don't let me stop you.
Keep an eye out for the motorcyclists. The riders of sport bikes up there can make Porsche drivers look like plonkers.
Said as a man with a foot in each camp.
Looks like interested has fizzled a bit. I'll probably get a quick drive around some local roads.
If anyone wants hit up the switchbacks starting at the 4 minute mark, let me know. I'm going late evening tonight and maybe tomorrow night. Just know the road is short, so it might not be worth the drive over if you don't live close to the South Bay.

Sure, but the road will likely be full of cyclists and Sunday drivers. It'll be a scenic drive, but I don't think it'll be very exciting. Let me know if you're still interested.
Here's a pic from my drive up Hwy 18 this morning to Arrowhead for the PCA Timeline. Nice road, beautiful day and not much traffic. I don't push too hard, but just make it a fun drive. I'm in Palm Springs most of the time, and Hwy 74 out here is a pretty great road. Our own Angeles Crest, with a nice cafe on the way up to Idyllwild and a long descent down the other side of the mountain.
My friends and I drive ACH weekly and never once have I found my 2000 C2 with no traction control to be "boring" lol you should easily be getting halfway into 5th on a couple straights right past where you would turn off to be going to Palmdale. Plus once you get closer to newcombs there are a few more. If you ever want to take a run with us let me know.
i couldn't agree with you more though on the car for the money. Best deal around at the moment. Mulholland can be fun but it's a really rough ride in some parts. Kinda takes the enjoyment out when you are on 24/7 pothole patrol. Also the darn tour buses back things up sometimes...
Uh...there is a small issue of should vs could, but I'm not here to tell people what they can / cannot do. FYI the speed limit is 45 in the spot you're talking about and increases to 55 just past Mt Wilson.
Just a word of caution, it's not really about you...it's more so about the actual forest users pulling back onto the road...said the guy who split the rear bumper of an oblivious driver merging back onto the road in a blind corner.

Didn't get back from my photo shoot until 11PM so just taking it easy today and no back road terrorizing!
Plus, it's already over 90 degrees headed towards 100 today and 102 tomorrow. Yuck!
Maybe next weekend?
Gorgeous shots. What are the pics for?
I got backed up too. Came back from the beach yesterday and didn't do squat, had to do those chores this morning before it got too warm.
I'm out of town next weekend, but I'm back the weekend after. If you want more heads, maybe start up a separate thread.
Photo shoot was for some young Japanese actress. I guess she is a pretty bid deal over there. Don't know her name. Heck, I don't even know who is a big deal actress in this country!
Anyway, they are doing a coffee table type book on her. I guess they do that with celebrities over there. They are going to send me a copy of the book when it is done and they paid me $1,000 cash plus fuel for my truck for a one day shoot.
