I would recommend finishing it out right and replace the amber rear taillights with DEPO 997 LED versions...

Where did you find a used engine, and how many miles were on it when you replaced the original?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys new member here just wanting to introduces my self and talk a bit about my car. I have a 99 c2 with aero kit that I picked up a year and a half ago with a blown engine (yes you guessed it right IMS failure) so I dropped a used engine in it drove it then decided to do a 997 front end conversion. I did all the work my self and used all oem parts, Thoughts, comments and criticism welcome!
My car has 220kms on it and the engine that came in a box with the car is not the original one because of date stamp on it, new used engine I got had 150kms on it so the guy states. So my car is on its third engine that I know of!
Looks like you did a great job. For a DIY that's pretty impressive! Body work is extremely labor intensive (which you obviously know) so again, great job.
I'm not a body man but have done may projects for my self over the years to know a bit about it, This is one that I spent three years working on a full restoration
Nice... VERY nice work... normally, I would say it's better to put the 996 back to original, but your 997 upgrade looks amazing. I would recommend finishing it out right and replace the amber rear taillights with DEPO 997 LED versions...

I second B3's recommendation, but I paid around $450 for the Depo/Dectane 997 inspired tails about 18 months ago. I don't remember the vendor, in Croatia, or something like that. Took forever, but I've been very pleased. BEAUTIFUL job!!!!
Welcome. The quality of your work looks excellent. I am a big believer in customizing your car as you see fit. I love it when people do something unique. Last year, I was very close to buying a 996tt that had the bottom 3/4 of a 997tt front bumper cover.
That being said, I prefer the Mk I headlights on a Mk I aerokit car, and not because it is a departure from stock - I just think the GT1 headlights look better. I think people now appreciate the 996 headlights as being unique rather than ugly, and the days of 997 front end conversions passed about 5 or 6 years ago.
