The car linked below is nothing special other than being an early .1 with a lot of leather options and an interesting color combo but it is clean with good history and has low miles.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Moving across the country and had to choose between keeping my 996 or 997 - made the decision the 996 has to go.
Realize that 996 values are all over the place, and sometimes very high (or low) on places like BAT. So I'd like your opinion on what my car is worth:
* Early 1999 C2 6sp
* OE Aerokit
* Arena Red/ Gray interior
* LSD
* 57k
* Verified original paint except hood and front bumper
* Clean carfax
* All necessary work done in last 15k (LN IMS, RMS, Clutch, twist on oil filter adapter, starter, battery, tires, etc. etc. - full stack of receipts from me and POs)
* Painted arena red center console
* Swapped, rewrapped thicker 3 spoke wheel (came with ugly 4 spoke)
* 997 shifter
* 18" Twists
* Headers
* Clean Blackstone results

Not interested, so I'm giving you an honest opinion...
Even with the Aero kit and you're great care and the maintenance records, it's still a basic 99 C2. $22K is what I think it's worth.
Great car
Being a color other than black or silver usually brings a premium.
Aero always brings a premium.
Your preventive maintenance adds to value.
I think your results will depend on patience,
Fast sale I would think $21-$22k, take your time, hold out till spring time, April / May you could pull $24k maybe more, if it was professional detailed and photographed.

Mid-20k. I sold mine in very similar condition but with higher mileage, and not an OE aero for $23.5K in July. Your car is lower miles, and OE taco. Go look at your option sticker for "030" if you have that, consider it sold, I will pick up as soon as you wake up.
I put together a pricing database on all 996s for sale in the US last year. Just took a look at 1999 C2s and I think others have given very good advice that you're looking at $22k - $24k. Pretty unique and beautiful car, so you never know what will happen with the right buyer or if you wait until spring to list.
I have to work today and we're having High wind warnings (40-60 mph) that I need to monitor to see if we can even open. Yesterday we had to shut down after 2 hours and today's forecast is supposed to be worst.
I am going to echo 22-25k depending on how long you have to wait. I picked mine, 99 non-aero, up a month ago and it is a little rough around the edges and I paid 17.5k, I also have an LSD and lower mileage. I factored in all the work that has been done to your car into what I was willing to offer for mine.
Hey Hex, I look at probably 10 listings a day (every day - kind of addicted), and your car is a bit of a conundrum. Early 996s are rather en vogue right now and many are fans of the aero cars. More importantly, people seem really drawn to cars that arent black or silver or grey. The car linked below is nothing special other than being an early .1 with a lot of leather options and an interesting color combo but it is clean with good history and has low miles. It just sold for $28k (+ 5% buyers premium)!

if I were you, Id detail the heck out of it, take a bunch of great photos, include a thorough (and well thought out) description and list it for $26k and not take a dime less than $24k. In the short term, I see your car rising in value as the maladies that initially allowed these cars to drop in market price are being diminished the M96 now having fixes in the aftermarket segment and styling that seems to be becoming more attractive as time goes on. My $.02.
Seeing this a few months late. The last time I ran this exercise, I pulled listing prices from: AutoTrader, Cars.com, Rennlist classifieds, PCA classifieds, and Craigslist. Again these represent the ask, not the bid.

Many chimed in on price being closer to 30 than to 20, but the results still had some ways to go to meet reserve.
If anyone's looking for a top notch 996 - it's available:

Sold mine (blk 99 aero, everything done. 81k
miles) on BaT 3 months ago for $25k. Really surprised yours didnt go at least that high. Its a great looking car.
I was following this one and all of the 996s that sold on BAT last week. I cant believe that your car only got to $22,500. I do think that the two that sold for $30k were anomalies, but it seems like your car should still have done around $25k or so. Hopefully you get a good buyer soon - your car looks great.

That result was disgraceful. I made a bunch of positive comments about your car. I have no clue why it ended so low. Even a bad result for that car would be 25k. Should have been 28k all day. Now that car has been on reenlist forever and had a bad showing on bat. I hope it doesn't have like a Scarlett letter effect. That car has so much going for it. My friend and I have put out 5 996's on bat and they all got more than yours and were imho inferior. I have a 1992 GS-r going up at no reserve in a week. I just don't trust that some of their auctions just don't bomb for one reason or another. It's not always the cars fault. They auction too many cars now. Mondays and Fridays are not good either there.
This is a true.
Your car should have sold for closer to your asking price
If / when I consider selling my car, I am not sure how BAT works or how many actual buyers go to the site. I would look at other avenues first.
Sometimes page visits get skewed by impressions instead of viewers / users.
Does anyone actually have data on how many non-repeat viewers go to BAT?
I feel like the color and aerokit are a little polarizing. Still seems like a low price. 996s are all over the place but i would have expected closer to 25.
