Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Discussions that suspect a cause
1

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suspected cause

Then very likely the dampers.

Leading evidence: 'dampers' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'dampers' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This might seem to be a stupid question but my 996 front end seems to be bouncing as of late. I'm thinking the shocks might be going bad but I only have 48,000 miles on them. Any ideas ?

POST 3Original post

Probably the dampers but are you on the stock suspension components and ride heights?

Then very likely the dampers. Also, check all four tire pressures if you've recently had the car in for new tires, service, etc.

POST 7Original post

My 2003 C2 with 45K miles has the same issue with correct tire pressure. I'm thinking about doing the Bilstein coilovers this winter.

POST 8Original post

Sorry, is it bouncing when you are driving at speed on the highway or is it bouncing after you go over a dip/bump? My car doesn't bounce, but the front end does sometimes feel floaty when I am driving at higher speeds on the highway.

POST 9Original post

Bob, sounds like you need aerodynamic aids. The gt3rs wing/cup splitter on my 2002 is not nice to look at, but highly functional at speed.

POST 10Original post

That is sort of what I thought it was, but the car is still new to me so I wasn't sure. Floaty, bouncey, could sort of be the same thing we were describing, but I had been thinking aerodynamics not shocks which is why I asked.
