Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I replaced my bulbs with LEDs I bought this replacement relay and it's been working great, regular flashing all around.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

The relay seems like the most straight forward solution, glad it worked well for you.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought a 996 sometime back that has replacement LED taillights. The turn signal interval is very quick, as if a bulb were out in an incandescent fixture. Is there a special flasher/relay available to provide the correct resistance, so I can have a normal turn signal? Thanks

POST 2Original post

So you've tested to make absolutely sure, the actually turn signals are illuminating, correct? On normal Porsche light enclosures, when the bulb burns out, the flasher will speed up. That's one indicator that you have a blown bulb that needs replacement.

POST 3Original post

I believe you need to wire in a 50 ohm resistor in the tail light power supply wire. Don't hold me to the 50 ohms. Just going on memory.

all signals seem to be working properly.

This is also what I remember. The LED bulbs don't have the electrical resistance that incandescent bulbs have. That changes the way the circuit functions. The LED tail lights I installed have a resistor to simulate the old bulbs.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, think I'll try the relay above.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The flasher listed above worked perfectly. I now have normal signals. Thanks

Yea, a whole $8, too. Don't know why the douche who changed the lights didn't do it. He had to know.
