Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Anyway manual cars can have such hesitations also so not bad at a certain point to check plugs and other standard maintenance items which relates to the engine operation.
Leading evidence: 'Check plugs and other standard maintenance items' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check plugs and other standard maintenance items' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2002 996.2 carrera with tiptronic i get a slight hesitation at 1800 to 2krpms under light throttle. Doesnt really do it during heavy throttle or higher rpms. Only really happens when taking off from a stop and hitting 1800 to 2k rpms. Is this the normal varioram kick in or something more sinister?
While I am not familiar with tippys my experience is that the variocam doesn't kick in at that low of rpm. In My 2005 996 I can feel the variocam boost kicking in in the range of 2500 to 3000 rpm. So I doubt it is variocam. Is it a stumble/miss in the engine or a hesitation in the drive train. Those who know probably need more symptoms to offer advice.
This is timely because I think I also feel a slight hesitation at low rpms but I think it might be just me letting off the throttle as my car gets quite loud on WOT with a full cargraphic exhaust.
Keen to hear opinions though
^^^^this**** I have seen many people mistake the torque convertor lock-up for a hesitation. If you notice the tach will drop about 200rpm's and a little torque loss when the lock-up occurs on the Tip.It's just part of the Porsche programming to have it lock-up under these circumstances, most (all) others car manufactures don't program to lock at this time/circumstance. I think the reasoning behind the operation is for better fuel efficiency, or maybe even less heat or longer lasting by stopping the torque convertor "slippage" when not asking for power/performance...
About the torque converter lock up. The tiptronic is a very smart thing taking into account a lot of driving variables. Moderate throttle applocation means the tiptronic control unit drives in the most comfortable mode. As smooth as possible gear changes and as smooth as possible engaging of the lock-up. When pushing harder everything gets a bit harsher and things are not so noticable anymore.
Anyway manual cars can have such hesitations also so not bad at a certain point to check plugs and other standard maintenance items which relates to the engine operation.
I tend to disagree with this. The Porsche Tip is not the smoothest of auto transmissions. It takes off in second gear when warmed up and convertor lock-up occurs about 60-90 feet after take off still in second when just cruising. No other transmission that I know of does this. I was a Ford Master for 20yrs a Mitsubushi Master for 10yrs and a Porsche Meister for 10yrs. The Porsche Tip has had many more complaints (when nothing wrong just programming) than any others I have worked with or driven. I must say the Tip is the best of them, but I don't think they intended for them to be the smoothest, they sacrificed a bit of smoothness for fuel efficiency/longevity, they could have waited to lock-up the convertor till 4th-5th gear in my opinion....I love my Tip and only drive in MANUAL MODE with paddles !!! lol
Agree ... very complex smart control program ... I changed once my headers and cats and the lock up started acting weird. Engaging and disengaging abruptly at 1800-2000rpm.
996 MK2 6-Speed checking in. I had that very slight but noticeable hesitation at moderate acceleration 2nd gear 2K-3K RPM. Completely disappeared after new plugs and coils @ 60K miles. /X3
