Suggestion
When you do all four (always replace all four tires at the same time when you are planning to do four - do not try to squeeze a couple extra months on one set or the other) you should also get a full four wheel alignment.
Leading evidence: 'Use factory tire pressure' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). So you would replace two sets of rears for every one set of fronts.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hello everyone,
i have taken off my summer wheels/tires and replaced them with the winter setup. my rear tires look quite tired. i was hoping i could get some feedback on the wear pattern. i use factory tire pressure. the photo is of the rears. the right tire goes on right rear, and left on left. they appear to have worn rather evenly, though the inners of both are worse. car tracks straight. thanks for comments.
Same here on N specs and factory pressure on a C2 - 2 sets of Conti's and 1 set of Bridgestones that appear to be wearing the same. Dealer says it is normal given factory alignment specs and my driving style- but boy would I love a few more miles out of the rears. I will guesstimate that I get about 12k miles out of the rears.
Those tires do not look too bad. That's not much inner edges vs. outer edges wear differences.
Run the winter tires then come spring when you switch back to the summer tires and install new rear tires have the car treated to a 4-wheel alignment.
Sincerely,
Macster.
No air showing through plenty of meat for a couple more seasons.
My Michelins looked like that also @~8k. When the time came I mounted Hankooks for replacement. They have ~6k now and look like there is ~10k left.
It will be interesting to compare tire life.
You're right. I looked again and the tire tread wear is not down to the wear bars yet. Couple of thousand miles or so left on those tires, though I'd be a bit leery of them in wet weather.
Sincerely,
Macster.
gentlemen,
thanks for your reviews. miles on tires 11.9k. ouch. on the other hand i believe i can use them in the spring for a bit before replacing them! then a set of rears, front ballance, and allignment.
10k and over miles and over is considered good amount of use for rears....if those are 12k you are doing great..
unless you have a sickness that wonder why/how they lasted so long...
I bet you if you really try, you can wear the next set out in 1/2 as many miles BUTU have twice as many smiles
You might think through whether the time and cost to remount these is worth the 1-2k more miles you will get out of them before having to return to the tire guy to get new ones installed.
Loo kpretty normal t ome as I have the same wear patterns on my C4S. I also get about 12-15K on rears before replacement. The uneven wear is the price we pay for having a - 1.5 degree of negative camber in the rears as "spec". Demosan
Your cars have rear camber so that in a corner, under load, the contact patch increases. In a straight line rolling resistance is lower because less tire in is contact with pavement. The rears are toed in so that under heavy breaking the car doesn't wander. The car was designed with those set-up specs in mind taking them out will be at your own peril.
vange,
Your rear tires look good. The wear pattern is completely normal. And the amount of tread you have left is good for the miles you have on them. The average miles for a set of rear tires is 7.5k miles to about 15k miles depending on how you drive the car. The rears wear out at twice the rate as the fronts. This is absolutely normal. So you would replace two sets of rears for every one set of fronts. When you do all four (always replace all four tires at the same time when you are planning to do four - do not try to squeeze a couple extra months on one set or the other) you should also get a full four wheel alignment. The factory recommends a full alignment every two years or when all four tires are replaced.
Those rears look like they have at least half of next summer left on them.
Happy driving!
thundertub,
i agree, two rears to one front.
ivangene,
i am afraid i will wear out the next set on half time too now that i am comfortable driving my car.
i think i am happy with the wear on these. unfortunatly an expensive wear item.
i appreciate all the replys
