Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for help. My 03 996 Carrera Coupe with manual transmission has a bad transmission mount. My dealer is struggling with trying to install in the car. A technician mentioned to the service manager there may be an aftermarket solution available. Does anyone know of this alternative? Any advice on the replacement process or difficulty?

POST 2Original post

There are several options for you: 1.) fill the mount in place to stiffen it up with a hard silicone, such as windshield sealer. 2.) remove the transmission and press out the old mount, then press in a new one. Example: http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...26#entry180226 3.) remove the transmission and press out the old mount, but use an aftermarket solid mount, example: http://www.tarett.com/items/boxster~...unt-detail.htm (you would have to press the mount out of the bracket in the above link and then press it into your transmission).
