Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm referring to the rubber joint/coupler that bolts between the transaxle and the driveshaft. When my clutch was gtting done it was noticed that it is cracking. So far the only way I've found to get the part is through porsche, but then they make you buy the entire driveshaft for ~$500 just to get the piece I need, which is just plain stupid. A local driveshaft specialist couldn't get it either, but did find that the BMW 3 and 5 series cars have nearly the identical part, but it is slightly different and wouldn't work. Anyone got a source for this part? I can't be the only one that has had to replace this.
Search in your friend on this one, it has been discussed many times on this board and other Porsche boards. As I remember no one has found a source for these either than to buy the drive shaft from Porsche. Seems like a poor practice on Porsche's part not to make this part available.

"Guys, it's all good. I appreciate your feedback.
I made a similar post on rennlist. There, I learned that you can use a guibo from a 84 BMW 318 automatic. The part is very slightly different but works perfectly and costs less then $50. Here's the website I ordered it from. $38. I ordered a new cardan shaft today (before learning this). So if this guibo works, I'll be returning the new cardan shaft. I'll keep you guys posted."

FWIW mine had very similar small cracks. Porsche techs told me they look like that after a few years and that it is pretty normal and not to bother yet. but if its out it's an easy part to change I guess...
