Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run same temp as you show' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check low speed fan resistor' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

i still need to check my low speed fan resistor to make sure it's not busted, I assume the AC runs the high speed fans etc

Checking the OBDII while driving, it surprised me that the needle can still be in the "0" range while coolant temps are as high as 221F.

I haven't done the full bumper removal radiator clean but I used tools to clear out all the garbage I could and spray to remove the rest.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

101-106F here in NorCal today, less than 700 miles since I got my new to me 996, I have new water pump, serpentine belt and LN low temp thermostat. I haven't done the full bumper removal radiator clean but I used tools to clear out all the garbage I could and spray to remove the rest.
this is with some freeway driving and a little stop and go, my AC is on so the fans are running.
engine temp look ok?
yeah it's not fun, we usually get about 1 week of 100F+ temps here

Checking the OBDII while driving, it surprised me that the needle can still be in the "0" range while coolant temps are as high as 221F. You'd think the gauge implies lower temps, but the OBDII disagrees.
Nothing to freak out about, just understand what values translate to in terms of absolute temp. Mid "0" on my 03 C2 equates to ~210F, while running cooler on the far end of the zero implies coolant temps under 200F. OP's car looks to run cool as a muddafucha
looks good - took a 150 mile trip today to get lunch. ran out Scaggs Springs - 90* to Stewart's Point and then south along Hwy 1 coast then up into the woods towards Cazadero, took the ridge back to Hwy 1 to the river and home. pretty much ran same temp as you show. these cars are magnificent
Temp looks totally OK. AC will run the fans at low speed, just stick your hand under the frontbumper left & right, you will notice them running. Then let it sit a bit while running at that heat and at 107C/225F the fans will go into high speed cooling down to 104C/220F again.
BTW I don't trust that gauge a lot; on the right hand side that 3/4 mark should be 215F (I guess sitting between 180 & 250F). But you never see it much beyond that mark. The indications around 180F seem OK.
