Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Every time I use the fob to lock/unlock, that immobilizer fuse blows.
Leading evidence: 'Use fob' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check driver's side' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

First, try checking the driver's side for moisture and put a dehumidifier in the car over night.

Therefore I recommend that you inspect the pins on this connector with a magnifying glass and clean each pin if necessary while your immobilizer is out for repair.

I have tried the 5 second reset and disconnecting the battery.

I continued to have intermittent problems after replacing the immobilizer which I eventually tracked down after much work to corroded pins on the connector which attaches to the immobilizer.

I took out the immobilized, opened it up so it could thoroughly dries out, used electrical parts spray cleaner to remove any corrosion from the circuit board, etc.

However if you do so, I would get it in writing (email) that your immobilizer warranty is still valid since you will have to break the seal on your new immobilizer to use the waterproof case.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

reinstalled it and it has worked fine since then and this was several years ago.
Caer will not start does not turn over. The immobilizer light on the dash (lock toggle switch) stays lit. Key fob does not turn it off toggle does not turn it off. New ignition switch, new battery. I'm at a loss! Any ideas to try?
I've owned several cars where the factory chose to located the alarm/immobilizer module underneath the seats. Unfortunately, when they get wet the electric gremlins wake up to annoy the crap out of you. Question, do you have a newer spare keyfob? First, try checking the driver's side for moisture and put a dehumidifier in the car over night. I know it sounds crazy, but you want to dry the car out as much as possible. Once it's dry out, then try starting the car with the key. If it doesn't work, try the spare new key. If that doesn't solve it, you might try resetting the ECU by unplugging the battery. You may need to be prepared to send the unit to ECU doctors or suck it up and take it to the dealership. Make sure you take a can of Vaseline if you chose to go to Porsche for the problem. You'll need it.
If you do have an immobilizer issue, these guys in Florida fix them apparently:

My immobilizer light stays on when driving and I cant seem to shut it off. Is it easy to shut off the light? I have tried the 5 second reset and disconnecting the battery. The car also honks I I would love to get rid of that.
HOW do you know for sure it is the immobilizer? I hate to send it in and then the car still does not work. Any way to troubleshoot to make sure that is the problem?
Mine has wet a few times before I found out that there are several drains and tubes that have to be kept clean. Once it was pretty bad. I took out the immobilized, opened it up so it could thoroughly dries out, used electrical parts spray cleaner to remove any corrosion from the circuit board, etc. reinstalled it and it has worked fine since then and this was several years ago. So before you send it out try drying it out.
So here's a pic of mine you can clearly see where there is white "whatever " stuff from moisture and a small burnt out area. $1200 from the ECU Drs for exchange!! Make sure you don't get yours wet!!!!
Corrosion. Even with a hot spot if you can't see something burned off/open I would try what Dharn55 suggests first.
I'll have to search for it but I think there is a "waterproof" enclosure for this module.
I had the same problem and ended up having to clean out the clogged drain tubes and getting the immobilizer repaired. I also went with the waterproof case mentioned above. However if you do so, I would get it in writing (email) that your immobilizer warranty is still valid since you will have to break the seal on your new immobilizer to use the waterproof case.

Car won't start? Light on the key button stays on? I had those issues and also the mechanical openers for the frunk and engine compartment had the lock-out solenoid engaged. I was told my fob went bad. Got a new fob & programming at the dealership. Issue not solved. I finally searched enough and learned there is a 15 amp itty bitty fuse on the immobilizer (not the size of the fuses in the footwell fuse box, but smaller). Every time I use the fob to lock/unlock, that immobilizer fuse blows. My solution? Lock/unlock with the door keyhole. For me, the money to fix the immobilizer was better spent towards new tires.
So I removed the circuit board from the plastic box (should have taken more pics) It was totally corroded on the bottom side with filth and rust spots! Cleaned it all up lots of electrical contact spray but no go its a goner. Sending it in to ECU guys. Sent them a pic and they said that it was shot and probably not even rebuildable. Need to get a new one!
