Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Logically I would think you just look at where it is set before you take off and then put them back on pointing the same way.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just wondering... I have a 2004 996 C4S cab. The instrument cluster faces are black, and I wonder can the faces be changed? I know the whole cluster can be swapped, but that affects the mileage and I don't want to go down that road.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
So, the needles have to be removed, what is the process for re-installing them? Is there a technical procedure, or do they simply pop back on at zero??
Good question....I have taken apart instrument clusters but I have not done faces yet....I will likely have an instrument cluster place do the work since I am not sure how to push the needle back on. Logically I would think you just look at where it is set before you take off and then put them back on pointing the same way. Take a picture first maybe...But I am guessing this works....ask an expert.
I did mine to white. But, it is a very careful tedious process. And fortunately I had a good friend with patience to help. When I purchased mine it came with a tool to remove the needles and then replace them.
So a couple of questions....
1) Did you just put the needles back on in the same position that you took them off....and then when energized everything was OK?
2) The thing I have not been able to figure out is once the needles are off, how do I snap the faces off from the center retainer that holds the face on.
1. Yes, we put the needles back in the same position but before installing the cluster back we took it out to the car and powered it up to make sure the needles lined up exactly like they should. We had to adjust one that was a little off.
2. There are little tabs that you need to pull back. This should help even though this guy was also changing the LEDs..
