Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Decided to start my caliper paint and rebuild project as I didn't have any plans for the long weekend. Glad I did as one piston on each side of the rear was jambed and even with a compressor I could' get them out. Had to boil the caliper to heat it up before they popped out. Rear pads were wearing uneven. now it's literally waiting for paint to dry Up on stands Popping seals and pistons First coat of paint

POST 2Original post

Looks like you have been productive. I did alot of driving. 200+ miles on Saturday alone. Also replaced the driver's side front wheel well arch adn the right front inner CV joint boot on my C4 Cab. Cheers to independence. D.

Suntanning to cure the paint before decals and clear coat

POST 4Original post

Looking good and can't wait to see the finish results.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Decals on and clear coat applied. I used duplicolor red caliper paint and vht satin finish clear. Going to bake the paint in the oven tomorrow morning.

POST 6Original post

nice work, I like the brembo lettering. Confidence inspiring brakes.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Arggg! So the clear coat ate thru two parts that were not completely dry. Guess I'll have to sand and redo these sections. Lesson learned, wait until the paint is fully cured before clear

POST 9Original post

Tony, are those gauge faces decals? What a difference, you should post some pics of how they look in the dark...

POST 10Original post

Yes - I'll follow up on how they look at night

POST 11Original post

I like the contrast those gauge faces provide. Well done and lesson learned on the brakes.

POST 12Original post

Typically you can clear within 1 hour of the base coat or after 7-10 days. You obviously landed in the realm in between which is a no no... Nice effort though.

POST 13Original post

thanks, they're inexpensive so you can buy a few colors to see what works. http://www.whitegauges.net/face_colors.php?style=2

POST 14Original post

Today I built a ramp for my deck stairs so my aging dog (she'll be 16 next month) can get to the back yard without being carried. Not a car project, but I'm sure all you dog owners can relate. Tony and Dion -- nice job on the gauges and brakes, respectively!

I can respect that. Our Yorkie is 15 and certainly can't jump on the bed no more.

POST 16Original post

Need to adjust the speedo but the others are aligned. Curb feelers go on next week

POST 17Original post

Wow, didn't expect that it'd look like that in the dark, really nice. Thanks for the tip to whitegauges. Ralph

High humidity also hinders the process.

POST 20Original post

FYI that whitegauges are generally nice but can obscure the turn signals at night. Minor annoyance so mine are staying for now, but just a heads up.

Well good and bad news. The touch up on the spots turned out well. The bad part is I started to reassemble the caliper only to figure out Centric packed one 28mm and three 30 mm dust boots (supposed to be two each) in the kit. Trying to resolve with partsgeek but it another delay and the car stays on jack stands for now. At least I can work on my stereo install.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update: one of the rears are on. Still waiting on dust boots to finish the rest

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

one Front done as well. Now just waiting on two sets of seals as I ripped a couple. Did a set of ss brake lines too while I am on there

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

WHEELS are built...now just have to wait for them to be shipped to me to put the car all back together! excited

POST 25Original post

Since you had it all apart, you should've done suspension too!

POST 26Original post

Those different color gauges are awesome. Your project is looking good.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
