Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just bought some gear lube to replace in my 2003 996 C4S manual transmission. The dealer sold me 000.043.305.49 litre bottle. He said it was a new part number. Is this the correct gear lube for my trans and front diff? It looks pretty thin. thanks Glenn

POST 2Original post

In the Boxster S ,the Getrag G86-20 6 speed gearbox/transaxle(similar to yours) , the specified oil is : Shell Spirax S5 75W-90 https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/9336...ity-diy-3.html The problem is that it is only available in very large drums. Some suggest that Swepco make an acceptable substitute if you can deal with the higher viscosity (cold shifting problem)but that is a separate discussion. You should also consider installing a 2nd gear detent before it is too late? https://californiamotorsports.net/pa...specifications

Do you have a pic of this stuff? A quick search shows the part number you provided is bushing grease. The bottle should show 75W-90 gear lubricant.
