Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check email' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). I believe they use steam to pull it tight and eliminate slack.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am s DIY'er and WANT to do it myself. Has anyone done it on their own? Advice? Tips/Tricks? Time? Videos/Write ups?
Please, no opinion about getting it "professionally" done. I want to hear from those that have done it THEMSELVES.
Thanks!!
I helped my brother do my top, he is a porsche master tech w/ 25+ yrs experience.I basicly handed tools and offered moral support, this is not a DIY project period! Dont care who you are.
In both instances, I used Weldwood contact cement, took my time, marked the new top with chalk in where the original wrapped around bows, headers and other anchor points. If you can rent a steamer it helps when working and shrinking in the wrinkles.
Save 500-700 bucks in both instances.
I thought it was a tougher job than rebuilding a Auto Trans.
Good luck
I may be wrong, but I also believe that the calibration of the top mechanism can only be done using the Porsche PIWS software (not Durametric), and I would image it would be hard not to throw out calibration when installing a new top. Scares me too, as I will have to replace mine at some point too. I'm all about DIY, believe me, but this could make for an expensive mistake.
I do not believe that to be the case. I have watched the procedure for a Boxster on YouTube, and had my top apart to fix the tension cables that pull the fabric tight. I took about 50% of the roof apart, including pulling part of the fabric loose. Nothing involves removing the top mechanism or messing with the micro switches. Every part I had on my 911, was exactly like the Boxster. I know they are different, but having had both, they are also very much alike.
I have also read the procedure, step by step and although I have no doubt it will take a while, it doesn't appear impossible.
Last, I have contacted a few shops, non mentioned the top needing to be recalibrated.
You are probably right. I had an auto upholstery shop do mine. I doubt they would have Porsche-specific equipment for calibration.
