Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2001 996 C4 Convertible I need to swap out my clock spring. Don't flame me, but I purchased a used clock spring off ebay with warranty. I have my airbag off and I would like to tackle this project on my own. Is it as simple as undoing the 24mm bolt on the steering wheel? I would love it if people chime in on this! Thanks

POST 2Original post

Yes, you have to pull the 24 mm bolt and then you get to it from behind. Make sure you use a sharpie or something to mark the position of the steering wheel to the hub so you know where to put it back on again. I usually make sure the steering wheel is straight when I do this, and when I put it back on I drive it around the block before putting the airbag on to ensure it's on straight. You will need Durametric to clear the fault codes if you take the airbag off with the battery connected. Here's a DIY I did for the 968 with tons of pictures, it's pretty much exactly the same: https://rennlist.com/forums/968-foru...the-968-a.html Good luck!
