Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Anyone have any tips for getting the rear tail lights aligned? (2004 C2). I know to move around the black plastic holders that are held in place by 2 torx screws. The manual makes mention of an alignment tool that is moulded onto new holders that then gets broken off, I haven't been able to find an images of this. The factory manual also mentions a 3mm gap but is that above the light or below or both? From images i've seen the light starts flush to the bumper and as it goes around to join the rear lid a gap starts to build? Should have followed the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but I tried to re-align them, broke a holder and made them worse! gah Thanks

POST 2Original post

I can completely understand refocusing the front headlights, but I don't think I've had a case where the rears needed readjustment. Is there something about your that doesn't look right or are you concerned about the brake light illumination? Maybe post some pictures?

POST 3Original post

My guess is that his lights aren't square to the opening (uneven gaps) which makes me first suspect that the "pointy" end wasn't inserted properly. Guess we'll wait for more info.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, Its un even gaps I moved then when I shouldn't have as the gaps were fairly correct. I'll get some pics up later. Where should the gaps be? I've got quite a big gap between the tail light and the bumper.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pic below, looks like the bottom gap is too big? Assuming it starts off flush and then a gap builds to 3mm where the tail light meets the decklid?

POST 6Original post

OMG^^^ Really? Can u say OCD? If not, you should learn...

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OCD, perhaps! To me the gap looks a little big? Maybe just a minute adjustment. Anyway couldn't really find any documentation on it even if mine are okay. Actually that's the alignment before I messed with them. They look worse now... Haha

POST 8Original post

Personally, I'd be more worried about who stole your Carrera logo off the back! hahaha!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Haha, its sitting amongst my collection of P-car matchbox toys!

Well let this be a lesson! Don't mess with them next time!!! FWIW, if you "messed them up", you should be able to just reverse your process to get them back how they were. Most of these types of thing are just kind of fiddly trial and error type of things... Good Luck

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep shouldn't have touched them! I broke one of the holders in the process too! For those as OCD as me: Enjoy!

Oh geezzzz... Did you have to post that? Now I have to go check my gaps...

POST 13Original post

Light gaps look OK...if anything the hood gap looks too much.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Haha of course I had to post it! I couldn't find any gap checkers so I used my vernier callipers instead. Not the best to use but got the job done. Have to wait on the new bracket to arrive from Germany ugh. I'll have to look into the decklid.
