Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In my case the rubber was still there, but the hatch still made noise so I used a piece of cloth tape on the underside of the hatch across the whole rear of the hatch where that plastic contacts to muffle the blow and the noise is gone.
Leading evidence: 'Use piece of cloth tape' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use piece of cloth tape' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Also what kind of adhesive should I use for the rubber 'blade' to keep it in place?

Initially i tried to use weatherstripping tape, but that was too thick and interfered with opening and closing of the roof.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Recently my 03 C4S has developed a nasty rattle on most all road surfaces in the sunroof. It's hard to tell exactly where it's coming from, but if I push up on the glass partition itself, it seems to quiet down a bit. I've been just slightly opening the sunroof (up, not back) to avoid this during my short commute, but it's literally becoming unbearable. It just started over the last few weeks, don't even know what from. Have had the car about 19 months now.
Is there an easy fix for this, or will I need to take it in to someone who does bodywork? Not sure my regular tech would be able to handle it. I see now why people look for sunroof delete options so often!
Had the same issue. It's common. Tilt the sunroof up and look at rear portion from outside of the car. You'll notice a plastic strip that contacts the underside of the rear of the sunroof hatch itself when it's closed. The plastic strip has a rubber squeegie blade on it and is on some sort of spring (you can push it down and it bounces right back up). Sometimes this blade falls off or is missing which causes contact of the plastic strip directly on the metal underside of the roof hatch when closed, which is the source of the noise. If it's still there but dislodged, put it back on. If missing replace. In my case the rubber was still there, but the hatch still made noise so I used a piece of cloth tape on the underside of the hatch across the whole rear of the hatch where that plastic contacts to muffle the blow and the noise is gone. Initially i tried to use weatherstripping tape, but that was too thick and interfered with opening and closing of the roof. Cloth tape (like the kind used to wrap wires to prevent noise in dashboards, is very thin and works fine for me.

Thank you sir. Will check that out this evening. It certainly feels like something busted loose, as it just happened overnight sometime a week or two back.
is your sunroof a glass, transparent, sunroof? can you see the sky when its closed but get the sky and the breeze when its open? mine is lined with the same fabric that runs the entire interior roof of the car.

Yup, like mine it rattles from farther back when closed. Someone did a write up but you need to pull the liner back and put some form of padding between a rod and the roof.
I didnt have to pull any liner. Just estimate where that plastic bar hits when the sunroof is closed. In my case there is a bare metal trough underside of the roof hatch where that plastic bar hits when closed. It bouncing up and down when on a bumpy road and hitting that bare metal is the source of the noise. That trough is where you put the tape.
Sorry just getting back to this, but I've been crazy busy with work and my car was in the shop getting a respray, so just now trying address the issue.
Looking at the sunroof, the "squeegie blade" was literally just laying there in the tray, so I assume that's a big part of the problem. I've 'slightly' put it back on the plastic strip, but you can see all of the old adhesive has worn off, so that needs a fix. Does anyone know the part number to the rubber 'squeegie blade'? I've looked on all the usual suspect's pages for this part, and I can only find the actual weatherstrip replacement for the sunroof trim, which I don't need.
Also what kind of adhesive should I use for the rubber 'blade' to keep it in place? I will also try this cloth tape method (assuming you mean where the rubber 'blade' contacts the roof panel) and see if that helps at alleviating this nightmarish sound!
Also, in my case, that plastic strip was almost broken in the middle, so when the sunroof slides back, the strip gets kind of stacked and it makes noises and can make even that the sunroof gets to not open completely or not closing when you request to
Take a look on that black plastic piece and reinforce it or restore it if needed.
