Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If you're using a gun as opposed to rattle cans, make sure you add flex agent if you're not using a plastic formulation.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2004 996 C2 with a gray interior that has failing paint on the center console (the one between the seats). To address this, I'd like to find a source for paint of decent quality and the right color.
Anyone know of a good source?
Local auto body supplier. While ours primarily cater to shops, they'll also serve regular folks from off the street. The ones I've worked with have been super helpful.
Be careful what paint you use, that piece is plastic. It also has a rough texture to it.
There are quite a few threads about painting the center console, for some reason the search feature is only going back a month. Seems like the mods archived some information, pity, I could have given you a link to the threads.
Overview of what I did and it came out great!
1. Remove console.
2. Strip all the old coating off.
3. Sand, starting with 180, working up to 3000 in increments to ge the rough texture off.
4. Spray with Tamiya FINE primer (on amazon, they make a fine and regular, get the fine), sanding from 600 to 3000 between, about 2-3 coats.
5. Spray your color of choice with Tamiya spray paint. Lot's of colors to choose from. I used Titanium for my grey interior.
5. After cured, polish with a buffer.
5.
When painting plastics, make sure the paint you use is formulated for plastic (flexible). If you're using a gun as opposed to rattle cans, make sure you add flex agent if you're not using a plastic formulation. If you don't, the paint will craze/crack. Good luck
Agree, for flexible plastic. The center console is hard plastic and doesn't need the additive. I painted mine with Tamiya paint for plastic models and has looked great for over a year now. I drive it every day.
Porsche offers painted consoles and almost everything that was soft touch, they still do, big extra cost, only thing "ricey" is your comments, WTF year you living in? 1945
Here's the link to my post with the before and after pics of the console, along with VERY detailed instructions.
