Does anyone know if that change would allow these speakers to work with this system?

Anyone have any experience with using aftermarket speakers with the 2003 series Bose system?

What I'm mainly looking for is an answer to whether you can use a standard 3 or 4 ohm speaker with the Bose system that was in the 2003 series cars?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm thinking of replacing the dash and rear seat speakers with the JBL GTO429 4" speakers but I wanted to get some clarification on whether these will work with my 2003 C4S Bose system? I'm reading that in 2003 there was a change to the cables that connect the Bose speakers to the amp and head unit. Does anyone know if that change would allow these speakers to work with this system? I've read that people are using these with the older Bose systems, but as I'm reading in 2003 there was a change. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
So I guess I'm being a little too specific with the speaker choice. What I'm mainly looking for is an answer to whether you can use a standard 3 or 4 ohm speaker with the Bose system that was in the 2003 series cars? I've been told by Crutchfield that the fiber optic cables only go between the amp and the head unit, so the speakers use standard speaker wire. I realize that since I'm not using 2 ohm speakers there will be a volume difference, but I'm hoping that by going with 3 ohm speakers the difference will not be too great. Anyone have any experience with using aftermarket speakers with the 2003 series Bose system?
I have done it, and it works, but speaker volume is diminished. If you upgrade speakers now, you will be ready for the head unit upgrade if and more than likely when the head unit stops communicating with the amps. Then its time to make it sound good.
Once your that far in,, ive decided its time to toss the amp.
I have a 03 cab and am in the same decision process,
I even thought about just adding a small mono amp to each set
of wires from the Bose to the speakers.
Basically all the "instabilities" of dealing with the MOST converters
and such has me thinking the CAI amp kit is a decent deal,
Or just cobble my own thing together.. You need a decent head,
4 channel main and a bridgeable-mono amp for the sub. I don't need
wall shattering power so I don't see it costing too much.
Its a 16 year old stereo.. so I figure the head unit and amp are
on borrowed time. The speaker cones have to be getting shaky..
I don't see running a wire bundle from a new head down to the factory
speaker wire harness being too bad.. Rather do that than replace the
whole speaker harness..
Part I haven't sorted is just what I want for speakers and how I want
the door and center woofers cabled... If you parallel the door and sub
you get a 4 Ohm driver set..
